Fresh off his World Cup heroics, PSG summer signing Ferran Torres has been recognised for his excellent early season efforts with a nomination for the Ligue 1 Player of the Month award.

During the summer transfer window just gone, PSG made the acquisition of versatile FC Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, fresh off scoring the winner for Spain in the FIFA World Cup final over in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

It’s safe to say it has been an incredible start to life in the French capital for the 26 year old. In just six games so far this season, he has already found the back of the net seven times, taking to life in France like a duck to water. More than a goal a game.

What makes these numbers even more impressive is that the seven goals have come in just 325 minutes of football, the equivalent of roughly 3.6 full 90’s of football. So he is nearly at 2 goals per 90 minutes so far, just remarkable.

In Ligue 1, he has scored four goals in just 252 minutes of action, the equivalent of around 2.8 full 90’s, with just two of his appearances coming from the start, and a further three off the substitutes bench.

Two of those goals came last month in wins over Brest and Marseille, both of which PSG won by the odd goal (0-1 and 1-2 respectively), meaning his strikes had earned the team four points in the month of September alone. The goal against Brest was a particularly impressive goal from range, with an xG of just 0.04.

Owing to this excellent form, he has been recognised by the league with a nomination for the Ligue 1 Player of the Month award for September, alongside Paris Brunner (AS Monaco), and Lassine Sinayoko (Paris FC). The winner should be announced sometime next week.

Let’s hope that Torres will be fit and available to have a go at winning the October Player of the Month award too, as he had to on Friday the 2nd of October pull out of international duty with Spain, due to some ankle discomfort. He had featured in their opening game away to England, but was an unused sub in the 4-1 win over Croatia, so you presume he sustained an injury of sorts in training ahead of their game with Czechia.

Everything crossed that that is not too bad and is just simply precautionary, but let’s wait and see. Either way, it has been a great start to life at PSG for the Spaniard, and let's hope that continues for a long time.
