With the heartbreaking news that PSG forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the rest of the season, we take a look at how Luis Enrique can best go about replacing the Georgian international.
So, we now all know by now that PSG will be without star winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the remainder of the 26/27 season, and possibly beyond, after he ruptured the ACL in his right knee during the 4-2 win over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
Most importantly, it is devasting news for the 25-year old, who will have to go through a lot of physical and mental pain over the next eight or nine months, and all our thoughts are with him.
It is also a hammer blow to both PSG and the Georgia national team. So, without further ado, let's take a look at how Luis Enrique can try and cope in the meantime to try and negate the loss as much as is possible.
To begin with, things will be even more difficult, as Ousmane Dembele is set to be out of action for a few weeks, as we aggregated earlier. So for the immediate games, the attack is looking thin.
Ferran Torres - who will likely replace Dembele in leading the line - could have been a viable option out wide, and will be in the medium term. For now, though, it feels like it will have to be the Spaniard through the middle, Desire Doue off the left hand side, and Maghnes Akliouche off the right.
We know that Torres can play on either side, and has done throughout his career, even if he is a more central player these days. So, you could play him off the left, Doue off the right and Dembele through the middle when he returns. Or, better still, swap those two around with Doue in his preferred left wing role.
Meanwhile, there is also summer signing Mika Godts. He could play from the left, with Doue off the right. But given his unassuming start to life in the French capital, it feels more likely that Akliouche will get the nod for now (and start off the right).
So, in short - right now, the most likely front three feels like (R/L); Akliouche, Torres, Doue. That will surely be the go to ahead of the international break, unless Godts manages to wrestle his way in.
It will be interesting to see if the club dip into the market in January. They did lose more forwards than they brought in last summer, with Bradley Barcola, Kang-in Lee, Goncalo Ramos and Ibrahima Mbaye (4) being replaced by Godts, Torres and Akliouche (3). So, maybe they will want to even that out, let's see.
