Bournemouth Stadium Foundations Progress As Key Work Gathers Pace

AFC Bournemouth's ambitious Dean Court stadium redevelopment has taken another step forward, with significant progress made on the foundations that will eventually support the club's expanded South-East corner.

Whilst supporters may still be waiting for the dramatic sight of structural steel rising above Dean Court, the latest week's work has shown that much of the unseen but vital groundwork is continuing behind the scenes.

One of the most eye-catching developments has come in the south-east corner of the stadium, where permanent formwork has now been installed for reinforced concrete ground beams and pile caps. These foundations will support the new corner structure linking the East Stand and South Stand, representing one of the most significant stages of the project to date.

Drone footage also reveals extensive excavation work, with contractors preparing the area ahead of concrete pours that are expected in the coming weeks.

Away from the foundations, supporters will also notice steady cosmetic improvements around the stadium.

New cladding has been added to the Main Stand wing extensions, and also a new roof has emerged above the new "Garden" restaurant - which extended onto the balcony adjacent to the old Bubbles lounge, while the new turnstile canopies are beginning to take shape, giving fans a glimpse of how the redeveloped entrance will eventually look - with black cladding being added.

Black perimeter fencing is also being installed around the site, whilst the temporary modular building in the West Car Park is now fully in place and is expected to house ticket office and administrative staff during construction.

Infrastructure work continues to dominate large areas of the site, particularly in the north-west corner.

Deep trenches have been excavated for new high-voltage electrical cables, with upgraded substations required to meet both the increased demands of the expanded stadium and modern UEFA requirements. These utility works have reportedly proved more complex than initially anticipated, with existing drainage, gas diversions and restricted working hours all contributing to slower progress in this north-western area of the ground.

The redevelopment has also seen a new pedestrian route begin to emerge on the east side of the ground, with supporters eventually being diverted around the rear of the Outside Broadcast facility towards Littledown once work is complete.

Inside the stadium, the refreshed black seating and corrected "AFCB" lettering continue to improve the appearance of the East Stand, whilst the pitch itself appears to be thriving beneath its protective growing membrane.

Supporters may also have spotted a skip full of removed stadium seats — something that has prompted calls from fans for the club to offer them as memorabilia rather than dispose of them.

With Bournemouth's opening home fixture against Everton now just weeks away, questions remain over how much of the redevelopment will be visible by the start of the Premier League season.

The club has never suggested that supporters should expect the new corner to be complete for the opener, and with major structural steelwork yet to begin, attention is instead turning towards the second home match against Brentford in September as a more realistic point for visible progress.

As has often been the case throughout the project, the most important work is currently happening below ground. Once the foundations, utilities and ground beams are complete, the steel frame is expected to rise rapidly - transforming the appearance of Vitality Stadium almost overnight.

For now, the redevelopment continues steadily, with each week's progress bringing Bournemouth another step closer to a stadium fit for the club's growing ambitions.
