Bournemouth head coach Marco Rose has confirmed members of his backroom team, with Marco Kurth and Frank Geideck set to play prominent roles as the Cherries head into a new and exciting era. Along with an unnamed analyst, both Kurth and Geideck will join Rose, having worked under him previously.
Marco Rose has officially been unveiled as AFC Bournemouth's new first team head coach.
During his first interview with the club, Marco named both Frank Geideck and Marco Kurth as coaches that will join him on the south coast. All three were most recently part of the coaching team in Germany at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.
Frank Geideck
Frank Geideck will arrive at Bournemouth as an experienced member of Marco Rose’s backroom staff, bringing more than three decades of coaching experience in German football. Frank began his coaching career at Arminia Bielefeld, before spending over a decade as an assistant at Borussia Mönchengladbach, including working under a Marco Rose during that time.
When Rose took charge of RB Leipzig in 2022, he quickly ensured that Geideck joined his team of coaches. A group that regular earned Champions League football as well impressively winning both the Pokal and Super Cup during their time at Leipzig.
As a player, Frank was predominately used in defensive minded roles, whether that be in midfield or at the heart of the defence. He spent the majority of his career at Arminia Bielefeld mainly performing in defensive roles. This could well help his new club, particularly with key defender Marcos Senesi departing the club.
Trusted by Marco Rose and with a coaching career spanning more than thirty years at the highest levels of German football, Geideck's experience and coaching intelligence could be a key addition for the Cherries as they embark on their latest chapter.
Marco Kurth
Kurth also arrives on the south coast as one of Rose's most trusted coaches. Their partnership began in the academy setup at RB Salzburg, where Kurth assisted Rose with the club’s highly successful youth teams before following him into senior management.
He was then was part of the coaching staff that guided Salzburg to domestic success before joining Rose at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. Throughout that journey, he has helped implement an energetic pressing style that has become synonymous with all of Marco Rose’s sides.
As a player, Marco Kurth spent nearly two decades as a reliable and consistent midfielder, starting via Borussia Dortmund's academy, his place of birth. His tactical knowledge as a coach and his long career as a top midfield player, will no doubt leave Cherries fans hoping he can sprinkle some more magic into their impressive midfield, particularly onto sought after midfielder Alex Scott.
His long standing relationship with Marco Rose will bring positivity and continuity to the club, and his ability to develop young players could be vital to an already young and hungry Bournemouth side.
