Marcos Senesi will indeed be calling an end to his four years on the south coast. The Argentine defender quickly established himself as a fans favourite and he'll be incredibly difficult to replace as the Cherries prepare for another ambitious Premier League campaign.

Marcos Senesi Set To Depart The Cherries

It felt inevitable for a while, but the club have now confirmed that central defender Marcos Senesi will be leaving the club. A sublime footballer who'll be sorely missed by all Cherries fans, but his application and quality will most certainly be remembered fondly.

Despite reportedly having been offered plenty of extension offers from the club, Marcos has decided to seek his next venture and there is no doubt some of the biggest clubs around Europe will be sniffing around.

The Argentine stands out in a number of defensive metrics in the Premier League, with his ability to make a high number of clearances and blocks particularly impressive. Senesi also catches the eye with his courageous style on the ball and is often the key to progressing Iraola's Bournemouth side up the pitch.

Bournemouth will no doubt feel fortunate that Marcos' current centre back partner has been equally impressive this year. James Hill has gone from a reliable back up option to a first team regular in 2026, something that will encourage Cherries fans as they head for another summer losing a key member of their backline.

They also still have exciting young Serbian defender Veljko Milosavjlevic within their ranks, and will be hoping centre back Bafode Diakite can adapt quickly for next season. Diakite was the clubs big signing last summer, but has struggled in his first season in England.

The Cherries are certainly used to losing important members of their defensive unit, with Nathan Ake to Manchester City, Lloyd Kelly to Juventus, Milos Kerkez to Liverpool, Illia Zabarnyi to PSG and Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid all departing the club in short succession.

Where Next For Senesi?

A return to European football will certainly be an option for Marcos, with clubs in Spain and Italy expected to show an interest. There is also a case to say that Senesi remains in England however, with near but all of the biggest clubs in England sure to be keeping an eye of the Argentine. At 29, he remains in his prime and would offer a modern style of quality with the ball and that valuable Premier experience.

From San Lorenzo to Feyenoord to Bournemouth, Marcos has been consistent a performer and he's just hitting his prime. Across his senior career, Senesi has made more than 250 appearances, scoring over 20 goals from centre back. He is now expected to represent Argentina in the World Cup this summer, so Senesi's future certainly remains as bright as ever.
