The Cherries may have left Manchester empty handed, but there was plenty to admire in a spirited performance that ultimately ended in sickening fashion. A well organised team display and although some underwhelmed, plenty of Rose's side impressed in their first Premier League game of the season.

Djordje Petrovic
The Cherries number one stood firm for the majority, making some decent stops in process. Will be disappointed at the manor of the goals conceded however, but will be happy with his display particular with a new signing in the goalkeeping department looking imminent. 7/10
Adam Smith
Up against former cherry Antoine Semenyo, Smithy showed his experience and intelligence in abundance. Got the better of the Ghanaian throughout, never stopped and made many crucial interceptions. Pips others to the player of the match. 8/10
James Hill
A solid enough showing in the main for Hill but showed some lapses in concentration. Will develop in time with his new centre back partnership following the departure of Marcos Senesi. 7/10
Antonio Silva
A calm and impressive Premier League debut for the new signing. The Portuguese international looks to have settled in nicely and showed plenty of positives signs both with and without the ball. 8/10
Adrien Truffert
Monster of a shift at the back as has come to be expected from Adrien. Tireless in his running and winning duels, made a notable last ditch interception on Haaland late on too. 8/10
Lewis Cook
Lewis struggled somewhat in the heart of the Cherries midfield, often loose in possession and looked leggy at times. Tough battle in that middle for him and can never deny Cookie's endeavour. 6/10
Alex Scott
Oozed class at times when Bournemouth felt under pressure, his ability to calm the game down and get his side up the pitch is delightful to watch. A real class act and the Cherries will be desperate to fend off any more interest in their starboy in the middle. 8/10

Rayan
Not the most impactful performance from the Cherries' Brazilian star, but did play a vital part in the away sides opener. Expect to see Rayan get stronger with more sessions and game time following his World Cup exploits. 6/10
Justin Kluivert
Following an impressive pre season from Justin, he really underwhelmed at the Ethiad. A tough role to play but ultimately failed to get into the game in any manner. 5/10
Marcus Tavernier
Took his goal expertly and was relentless and full of running, as the Bournemouth fans have come accustomed to. As with Andoni, Marco Rose clearly sees Tav as a key cog in the side whatever position. 8/10
Evanilson
An unsurprisingly selfless and spirited shift up top from Eva and will be happy to have notched his first assist of the campaign. Had to feed off scraps but he gave the City centre backs no let off throughout. 7/10
Commendable shifts from the four subs that were utilised by Marco Rose, albeit they'll be frustrated to have all come onto the pitch with Cherries in a good spot, only to eventually leave with defeat. Both Alex Toth and Ben Gannon-Doak fought hard, Adams will only get better when he's shaking off his recent injury, and perhaps most impressively, Daniel Jebbison looked lively and game when coming on to leading the line.
