Marco Rose's reign began with a comprehensive 4-1 victory as Bournemouth swept aside St. Pauli in Austria. It was a good opportunity for the new head coach to cast an eye over his players, with many impressing throughout. Here are our player ratings from the Cherries' dominant pre season display.
Djordje Petrovic
The Cherries number one will be disappointed conceding the opener at his near post, but other than that the Serbian made some solid stops and remains the clear number one in heading into the new season. 7/10
Will Dennis
Will was the second half choice in the sticks for Rose's men and had very little to do with Bournemouth commanding proceedings in the second period. Nevertheless he'll be pleased with his clean sheet on his return to the club. 7/10
Adam Smith
Lead the team out and was as reliable and tidy on the ball as ever, albeit not overly involved in the opening period. 7/10
Julian Araujo
Only a small amount of game time for Julian but he'll pleased to be back on the pitch in red and black, with this pre season key for both his short and long term future. 6/10
Max Aarons
The third right back of the game, like Julian he'll be happy to have been back on the pitch for his parent club. Another full back who will be using pre season to determine whether his future lies with the Cherries, or elsewhere. 6/10
James Hill
The leap in James' importance to the side in this past year has been seismic, from a youthful backup option at centre back to now being the key cog at the heart of the Cherries defence. Assured and commanding in the opening 45. 7/10
Harold William
A big night for the promising young centre back, with William netting his first goal for the senior team. A player that there is clearly a lot of excitement about within the club, he played like a man well above his years and could be one to watch. 8/10
Bafode Diakite
It will no doubt be an important pre season for the French defender after a tricky opening season on the south coast. Bafo looked solid and powered home his first Cherries goal from a set piece, something that will no doubt lift the centre backs confidence. 8/10
Lewis Cook
As so often seems the case, Lewis had to operate in an unfamiliar role for this one, partnering Diakite at the back in the second half. I'm sure Cookie will get to show the new head coach his qualities further forward, but he was composed and showed an excellent array of passing during a dominant second period. 8/10
Adrien Truffert
Definitely one of the standouts in the opening 45 for Bournemouth, with the French full back showing his energy and quality in abundance. 8/10
Julio Soler
Julio will know that he is still operating as a backup option for the Cherries, but he's certainly showing a real maturity when called upon with an immaculate second half performance. 8/10
Ryan Christie
It was clear that Ryan was asked to play in a deeper role than he's used to, but I'm sure we'll get to see him further forward once Tyler Adams returns, as the Scotsman didn't look as comfortable that deep. 6/10
Charlie Stevens
The youngster done himself no harm with his display in the second half, looking neat in possession throughout. 7/10
Alex Scott
Cherries' star boy was definitely pumped in this one, receiving a yellow with some uncharacteristically naughty challenges. Still showed his quality on the ball as expected. 7/10
Alex Toth
The Hungarian could be one to watch this season following his January move. The advanced midfielder oozed class on the ball. 8/10
Evanilson
It was evident that the Brazilian was operating in a role a lot deeper than he's used to and seemed somewhat lost at times. 6/10
Ben Gannon-Doak
No doubt the standout performing in this one, the wing wizards early introduction seemed to swing the tie in Bournemouth's favour. Great goal and threat throughout, may well feel like a new signing for the Cherries. 9/10
Marcus Tavernier
The usual energetic performance from Tav. Linked up well with Truffert down the left and provided the assist for the Cherries opener. Be intriguing to see Tavernier's role as pre season progresses. 7/10
Amine Adli
Constantly involved is the Moroccan, in both positively and frustratingly. Always showing clear desire and intensity, just often loose in key moments. 7/10
Daniel Jebbison
Jebbo will be delighted to get a chance to lead the line for the Cherries. Not only that, he managed to score Bournemouth's third and be a consistent menace to the St Pauli backline. 9/10
Alvaro Rodriguez
Great to see the new signing take to the field and although only a small cameo, Alvaro showed some nice signs in holding and linking the play. 7/10
Less minutes and not much to note on both Enes Unal and Justin Kluivert, albeit positive to see them back amongst it. Shame for academy winger Remy Rees-Dottin to be forced off after a head injury, and just a small cameo for Da Costa Gonzalez.
A really nice moment was when Zac Christie was introduced for the Cherries. At only 16 years of age there is a real hype around the teen, having already received an youth international call up for England.
