Liverpool travelled to Istanbul to take on Fenerbahce in a tricky away encounter for the Reds in the UEFA Champions League.
Andoni Iraola's side went into this game looking to continue their perfect start to the competition after securing wins against Atletico Madrid, LASK and most recently Villarreal.
But tonight's game was arguably one of the hardest fixtures the Reds have on their league stage schedule, with Turkish sides known for their hostile atmosphere, and LFC knowing all too well how difficult it is to play against these sides in Europe.
IMAGO / ANPBut could LFC leave the capital with another three points, or would the challenging away trip prove too much for the Merseyside club?
First Half
Liverpool started the game as the much stronger side, which was a change from recent games where they have conceded first in four of the last five games.
But on this occasion, it would be Iraola's men that would hit the front inside 25 minutes.
After a ball into the box was headed away by the Fenerbahce defence, it fell to Trey Nyoni, who drilled home a shot from the edge of the box to make it 1-0 and register his first goal for the club.

A free kick from quite far out was taken by Mason Greenwood, and his shot was deflected by Jeremy Jacquet in the wall, and it trickled past a furious Alisson Becker, who felt his defender should have made the block, instead of turning away.
This gave the home side energy, and they began to grow into the game, causing Liverpool all sorts of problems, with Greenwood having the best chance, forcing Alisson into a smart stop, but the half ended 1-1.
Second Half
The next 45 minutes started fairly evenly, with both sides having chances. Virgil van Dijk came close early on with a free header from a corner that was directed straight at Ederson in the Fenerbahce goal.
Before the Reds would make a triple change around the hour mark, with Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak coming on for Joe Gomez, Victor Munoz and Rio Ngumoha.
The two substitutes then combined for Liverpool as a quick one-two between Kostas Tsimikas and Gakpo allowed the Dutch winger to hang a ball up to the back post that Alexander Isak would nod past Ederson and put LFC 2-1 just minutes after coming on.

A hopeful cross was put into the box by N'Golo Kante. Gakpo made contact with his head, which knocked it away from Alisson, who was trying to come and claim the ball.
This led to the ball landing at the back post, with Szoboszlai failing to track his runner, and Archie Brown tapped it into an open net, 2-2.
Another away change would follow this as Kostas Tsimikas made way for Milos Kerkez, with Andoni Iraola looking to try and take the lead once again.
But it would be Fenerbahce that would take the lead with just over 10 minutes to go.
Coming from a piece of poor defending from the Reds, a floated cross into the box was met by striker Vedat Muriqi, who muscled through Jacquet and Nyoni to guide the ball low, past Alisson, and the Turkish outfit took a shock lead.
