Federico Chiesa's Departure From Liverpool seemed like a foregone conclusion; however, new developments emerged that may change that

Liverpool look set for yet another busy summer of transfers. With the confirmed exits of Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah, it is no surprise that the Reds are being linked with a host of players.

Although the club have shown interest in several wingers, most notably Yan Diomande, it seems that one attacker has reopened the door to staying at the English club.

Potential Revival for Federico Chiesa

Liverpool's Federico Chiesa had interest from Juventus in January. There were many complex steps to sign him, and the same is true this summer, should they go back in for him.

In January, it seemed like the winger would indeed return to Juventus without Thiago Motta who told Chiesa he was not needed at the club. The Italian press was very optimistic, and Chiesa was intent on sealing the move, with Sport Witness covering the potential transfer

Liverpool’s demands ensured nothing occurred. The attacker then ended up regretting the stay, as he didn’t make a single start in 2026, which reflected Arne Slot’s view of the Italian.

TuttoJuve’s Mirko Di Natale has reported on the 28-year-old Italian Winger, talking about links with both Juve and Como.

However, Slot’s sacking has changed Chiesa’s mind about leaving Liverpool. He wants to work even harder under the management of Andoni Iraola and is ‘determined’ to turn things around on Merseyside.

This could change if the Reds put him on the transfer list and want him gone. If that does not happen, Chiesa wants to go again and prove himself.

Author's Verdict: Is there still time for a Federico Chiesa Comeback?

Chiesa is easy to root for, and supporters were very excited when the club signed him in the summer of 2024. Liverpool were able to acquire the Italian for a cut-price deal from Juventus for just £12.5m, which was low risk.

Chiesa arrived at the club having shown a high level of quality with Juventus and Italy during their Euro-winning campaign. However, that was six years ago, and with an ACL Injury in 2022, it's safe to say he has not been the same player since.

It is not out of the question for Chiesa to perform at a high level. He wants nothing more than to be given chances so that he can work hard on the pitch and give his all for the team. He showed his willingness to be a team player by not participating in International games with Italy just so he could rebuild his fitness, or by using the few minutes he was given in most games under Arne Slot to get a last-minute winner.

In the current market, players like Chiesa are hard to find. Even if Liverpool move on from him, it looks like it will be around the same transfer fee that was paid to bring him to the club in the first place.

Chiesa should be given another chance this season, to be given games, consistent starts, and prove his worth to the Anfield faithful. If he falls short, then he leaves with a Premier League Winners medal and a few special memories to take with him.
