Liverpool have been embroiled in multiple transfer sagas with Paris Saint-Germain already this summer, and that isn't set to end any time soon as the Reds have been linked with a move for one of the Parisians' most talented young stars.

Liverpool have been linked to multiple Paris Saint-Germain players this summer, including Bradley Barcola as well as Andoni Iraola's former defensive stalwart Illia Zabarnyi. Now, there's another.

Reds Interested in Senegal Star

Fabrice Hawkins, the French transfer news expert, has reported that Liverpool are amongst a host of clubs interested in signing Ibrahim Mbaye, the 18-year-old Senegal International, from the back-to-back European Champions.

A 50 million euro fee has been mooted, with Liverpool said to be joined in their interest by Tottenham, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Chelsea.

Ibrahim Mbaye Player Profile

Mbaye predominantly plays from the right wing for both Paris Saint-Germain and the Senegal national team, although he is known to be a versatile player - versatility that is helped by his powerful 6ft 1" frame and rapid pace.

Right-footed and playing from that same side, he is a direct one-versus-one style attacking player with an emphasis on delivering crosses and cut-backs rather than going for goal himself.

Born in France, Mbaye has worked his way through the Paris Saint-Germain academy ranks since he joined from FC Versailles 78's youth side in 2018.

Mbaye made his senior debut during the 2024/25 season and saw an increased role last time around. Still, he played only 998 minutes in Ligue 1 during the 2025/26 season. Despite this, he scored three goals and provided two assists. He also made four appearances during the Parisians' successful UEFA Champions League campaign.

For Senegal, Mbaye has already earned an impressive 15 caps - including appearances at the 2026 World Cup. He has scored four goals for the national team.

Author's Verdict: An Alternative Option

With Paris Saint-Germain said to be commanding a fee of 170 million euros for Liverpool's top target, Bradley Barcola, could Mbaye be the Parisian forward the Reds pivot towards?

Liverpool need an extra forward regardless, maybe even two, and Mbaye's profile stands as a similar alternative to previous high-profile targets for the right-wing position, such as Yan Diomande (whose move to Real Madrid is advancing at a rapid pace).

However, he has played very little senior football so far in his career, being an exclusively tertiary option at his current side. But he is obviously highly rated, and has had some tangible success with the Senegal national team.

If Liverpool are ambitious enough to move for two forwards during the remainder of this window, Mbaye could offer a different profile for the squad. However, as a direct alternative to Barcola, Mbaye lacks experience and does not bring the same goal-scoring traits as his current Paris Saint-Germain teammate.

Undoubtedly, Mbaye is one to watch in the final month of the transfer window, and it will be very interesting to see how the European Champions' attack looks come the start of the new season.
