Key Manchester United players face fitness tests. Will Dorgu, Yoro, and Cunha feature against Brentford as Michael Carrick eyes Champions League qualification?
Manchester United are returning to Old Trafford on Monday evening as another huge clash in the race for Champions League places looms.
Having defeated Chelsea 1-0 away from home last weekend, Michael Carrick's men moved 10 points clear of sixth place, meaning they now only need five more points to secure Champions League qualification.
Brentford are in the mix of four teams vying for European spots this season, with themselves, Brighton, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Fulham, and Everton only separated by three points between sixth and 11th.
While United are third, level on points with Liverpool and Aston Villa, who are fourth and fifth respectively, a win against the Bees would put United three points clear of the other two sides.
Carrick will be waiting on fitness updates of several players as he prepares his squad to face Keith Andrews' side in Manchester, with the latest on all players below.
Leny Yoro
What happened: Leny Yoro was absent from the trip to London to face Chelsea last week, which led to Noussair Mazraoui filling in at centre-back.
What's been said: According to SullyTalkz, Yoro returned to first-team training alongside Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu on Sunday, although it remains unclear if he will be fit to be part of the squad.
Possible return date: Monday, 27 April â Brentford (H).
Matheus Cunha
What happened: Matheus Cunha was the goalscorer for United's win at Stamford Bridge last weekend, but was not spotted in training earlier this week, with reports stating he had been given an extra recovery day.
What's been said: While nothing is concrete, rumours online are circulating claiming that the player is in doubt to face Brentford, having had scans this week.
Possible return date: Sunday, 3 May â Liverpool (H).
Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu
What happened: Dorgu has missed the last three months of action after sustaining a hamstring injury against Arsenal in January. Roundtable revealed last week that he had taken signifiacnt steps in his recent training.
What's been said: As mentioned above, it has now been reported that Dorgu had rejoined the group training sessions, and the player himself has hinted at his return with a matchday graphic on Instagram.
Possible return date: Monday, 27 April â Brentford (H).
Lisandro MartĂnez
What happened: Lisandro MartĂnez was handed a three-game ban for allegedly pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin's hair during the 2-1 loss against Leeds United a few weeks ago.
What's been said: The FA confirmed that United had appealed the decision, but the ban was not overturned and the Argentine has served one game of his suspension so far.
Possible return date: Saturday, 9 May â Sunderland (A).
Matthijs de Ligt
What happened: Having played every minute of United's first 13 fixtures this season, Matthijs de Ligt has not been seen since the end of Novermber due to an ongoing back problem.
What's been said: âI wouldn't say, not at all," Carrick said when asked if De Ligt won't play again this campaign. "No, Iâd like to think, I was certainly hoping there is a chance that he can, without putting any pressure on it or deadlines on it."
Possible return date: N/A
