Michael Carrick has some big calls to make for his team selection against AFC Bournemouth.
Manchester United face AFC Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon in a game that could be crucial to Michael Carrick's future as head coach.
The 4-1 defeat against Como has led to much speculation, with United now heavily linked with Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe.
Carrick will need three points on Sunday for some of the pressure to ease, though Manchester United have failed to beat Bournemouth in their last six meetings. The last win against them at Old Trafford was under Erik ten Hag in January 2023.
Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha both disagreed with Carrick in midweek, but will they start on Sunday? Here is Roundtable's predicted XI against Bournemouth.
Man Utd predicted XI vs Bournemouth
Senne Lammens has never had his position so secure, given that he has defended Michael Carrick in a recent interview with Sky Sports.
Ahead of him, Harry Maguire is likely to keep his place in central defence, and Diogo Dalot seems destined to start at right-back despite his poor form.
Noussair Mazraoui was one of many 3/10's against Como, so he could drop out for Ayden Heaven, who is back fit after illness. However, Matthijs de Ligt may not be ready to start two games in a row, following such a lengthy period on the sidelines.
Leny Yoro can come back into the side after being suspended against Como, which means Heaven could be pushed out to left-back, like he was against Atletico Madrid.
In midfield, Michael Carrick has to make changes. Andrey Santos and Mason Mount were poor on Wednesday night, but they were not helped by the wayward press from Bruno Fernandes and Youri Tielemans ahead of them.
With more energy needed in the side, Carrick could keep Mount in the starting lineup, but reinstate Carlos Baleba, who will be desperate to impress after his error in Italy.
Fernandes deserves to be dropped for his comments after the game, and with Carrick needing fan support, it would not be a surprise to see the captain named amongst the substitutes. That would leave Tielemans as the No.10.
Amad will return to the starting side on the right flank, with Bryan Mbeumo also in the frontline. However, he may not play as a centre-forward.
Michael Carrick may also want to drop Cunha, given their half-time argument. This would force Joshua Zirkzee, who scored against Como, to centre-forward, with Mbeumo moving out to the left flank.
Manchester United predicted XI vs Bournemouth: Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Yoro, Heaven; Mount, Baleba; Amad, Tielemans, Mbeumo; Zirkzee.
