As Casemiro prepares to depart, Old Trafford legend Rio Ferdinand urges the Red Devils to pounce on Real Madrid's powerhouse midfielder following a reported training ground rift in Spain.

Is Elliot Anderson actually worth it?

As Manchester United's season slowly comes to an end with two games remaining of the Premier League season, all eyes are beginning to shift to the summer transfer window.

Casemiro is already confirmed to be leaving, and therefore, a huge hole will be left in not only the midfield but also all of the set-piece goals he scores.

It is unlikely a gap like that can be filled with just one midfield signing, hence the need for at least two and potentially three if Manuel Ugarte were to leave.

After the blockbuster headlines caused by the alleged fallout between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde, it seems that there is a chance that one of the two could be available in the summer.

Ferdinand raves about Tchouaméni

Even before the recent controversy, Tchouaméni's name had been tentatively linked as an almost 'dream signing' if was ever to be available. However, there is now a chance, albeit not a high likelihood, that he could be lured to Old Trafford.

Rio Ferdinand has made his thoughts on the Frenchman loud and clear as he sees him as an amazing opportunity in the market.

On his Rio Ferdinand Presents Youtube channel, he said: "Tchouameni, allegedly, has had a bit of a fight with Valverde in training. That wouldn't worry me one bit him coming to Manchester United. I want a bit of fight, I want a bit of aggression.

"He's not somebody who has been places and then they go: 'Oh guys, he's trouble.' I've met him, he's a lovely guy. He's quite softly spoken but if you put him into a 90-minute match where it means something, then the guy can play.

"He can do both sides of the game: he can play but can also rattle a few and get around people - he's versatile. I really like Tchouameni.

"If we can get him, it would be an unbelievable signing. If we can pounce in a moment where there's a bit of destabilisation at the club, and his position is a bit of a concern for them, then I think we've got to strike"

Huge statement of intent

If United were to pull off a deal for Tchouaméni, this would mark a huge statement of intent. While the club have signed players from Real Madrid in recent times, such as Casemiro and Raphael Varane, they were players towards the end of their careers.

This comes amid news broken by Roundtable that, should Tchouaméni wish to leave this summer, Real Madrid would not stand in his way.

The Red Devils have arguably not signed an elite player in their prime years from another giant club since the signing of Paul Pogba from Juventus. That deal may not have been a blockbuster success, but he did provide moments of real quality and, at the time was a big move from the club.

Compared to the links to other players like Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, Tchouaméni is the closest in terms of playstyle to his former Real Madrid teammate.

Aside from the quality of player, the Frenchman also brings huge winning experience, which, in the absence of Casemiro, the dressing room would be lacking.
