Manchester United are said to be keeping a "close eye" on a Borussia Dortmund forward, who could leave Germany this summer.
While Manchester United's focus this summer will be on rebuilding their midfield, their desire for a new forward has also been made clear - most reports indicate that United would like to add a new left-sided attacker to their ranks.
Matheus Cunha and Patrick Dorgu have shared the left-winger responsibilities since Michael Carrick replaced Rúben Amorim in January, but neither are natural in the position. So, United have been linked with several left-wingers this summer.
Some fans had hoped that Marcus Rashford would be United's new wide player for next season. Barcelona chose not to activate their £26 million buy option, despite Rashford netting 14 goals and 14 assists for Hansi Flick's side last season.
Anthony Gordon, who is competing with Rashford for England game time, has since moved to Barcelona, meaning Rashford is expected to return to Old Trafford after the World Cup.
In recent days, United have been linked with West Ham United's Crysencio Summerville. However, his performances at the World Cup could drive his price tag even higher.
United eye Dortmund star
Manchester United have already been linked with one Borussia Dortmund star this summer - Felix Nmecha. Gary Neville has also revealed that he believes United would be better off signing the Germany international than Mateus Fernandes.
However, as per Fussball Daten, United are keeping a "close eye" on Karim Adeyemi, who is set to enter the final year of his Borussia Dortmund contract next season.
Dortmund have been pushing to extend Adeyemi's contract beyond the summer of 2027, but the German side are seemingly unwilling to match Adeyemi's wage demands.
Due to the lack of progress in contract talks, Dortmund have seemingly accepted they may have to sell Adeyemi this summer, and are said to be willing to accept offers in the region of £35 million.
Given West Ham are demanding close to £50 million for Summerville - despite being relegated from the Premier League - Adeyemi could be a steal for United this summer.
Adeyemi is a risk
While he was impressive at RB Salzburg, Adeyemi has struggled to hit the same heights in a Borussia Dortmund shirt.
Last season, the 24-year-old made 44 appearances, netting 10 goals and eight assists, which is not a bad tally, but does not come close to Rashford's 14 goals and 14 assists for Barcelona.
If United are to sell Rashford this summer, they must ensure his replacement is better than him. And while Adeyemi has the potential, he would be a risk.
Summerville would be a safer option, although United are unlikely to accept paying £50 million for him, as well as close to £80 million for Mateus Fernandes.
A left-winger is definitely on the list for United this summer, but with Patrick Dorgu's impressive form to end the campaign, United should take the World Cup to focus on the midfield rebuild.
Once that is complete, and United have signed at least two central midfielders, then they should begin the left-winger search.
