Man Utd's Benjamin Šeško Stance Amid Barcelona & Atletico Contact

Benjamin Šeško's first season at Manchester United has not been an easy one, despite his impressive form after Michael Carrick took charge. 

Having joined just before the final match of pre-season, Šeško only played 25 minutes on the opening day against Arsenal. His first start in the Premier League came after the international break against Manchester City, when Rúben Amorim's side suffered a 3-0 defeat. 

The Slovenian netted his first United goal against Brentford at the end of September before following up against Sunderland the week after. However, they were the only goals before Amorim's shock departure in January. 

In Darren Fletcher's only Premier League game in charge, Šeško netted two against Burnley but was reduced to a bench role when Carrick was appointed. 

The 23-year-old quickly proved himself to the new boss and ended the season with 11 Premier League goals and one assist. 

While centre-forward does not appear to be a priority for United this summer, the Red Devils have been linked with some options, and they now appear to have made a five-man shortlist. 

However, TeamTALK have reported that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have made contact regarding Benjamin Šeško's situation, via intermediaries. 

With Julian Alvarez's future uncertain, both clubs have turned towards Šeško. They have both been informed of the player's circumstances, should a deal become possible. 

But a deal seems unlikely as TeamTALK states that United have no interest in parting ways with their centre-forward. 

United are insisting that there is no scenario which would see them part with Šeško, who they paid £70 million for in 2025. 

Selling Benjamin Šeško seems to be a no-go this summer, and that should be the case. When he found his feet, Šeško became one of the most important players in the side, even if that was when he was coming off the bench for Bryan Mbeumo. 

However, United still lack a recognised backup for Šeško. Joshua Zirkzee is the only other senior centre-forward at Old Trafford, but looks destined for a move away from Manchester after a difficult end to the season under Michael Carrick. 

With a return to the Champions League next season, United will need their strength in depth if they want to compete in more than just one competition. 

Signing another striker will not only allow Carrick to rotate Šeško when he is tired or out of form, but it will also help the Slovenian develop. 

At just 23 years old, Šeško has plenty of time to grow into a brilliant centre-forward, and learning from an experienced goal scorer will only be good for him.
