"We'll Make The Necessary Sacrifices" - Club President Goes All Out For Man Utd Star

Manchester United look set for a rather busy summer transfer window, in which Michael Carrick will have a say in the transfer dealings after being appointed as the permanent head coach before the final game of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion. 

While the focus will undoubtedly be on the midfield situation - after Casemiro's departure - Director of Football Jason Wilcox will be looking at signing new players across the pitch due to the return to the Champions League next season. 

Atalanta's Éderson looks set to be the first through the door, and now a matter of when and not if he will join United. But reports have said that United may look to sign at least two central midfielders, as well as a left-winger or a left-back. 

United may also be in for a shakeup in the goalkeeping department this summer. Tom Heaton signed a new contract to remain at Old Trafford on Thursday, but Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana have both been linked with moves away. 

Also, it is yet to be seen what will happen with Radek Vitek this summer after a brilliant spell with Bristol City in the Championship. He could be forced to play second fiddle to Senne Lammens next season if United move on Bayindir and Onana. 

Andre Onana spent the last season on loan in Turkey with Trabzonspor. The Cameroon international started 29 matches for the Turkish outfit, helping them to a third-place finish in the Süper Lig. 

It's clear Trabzonspor would like Onana to return for next season, despite his high wages at United, and are clearly willing to make "sacrifices" to do so. 

As per Futbol Arena on X, the club president said: "We're meeting with Onana every day. We won't face any financial issues. We'll make the necessary sacrifices.

"I don't think we'll encounter any hitches, but if we do, we'll find another goalkeeper of the same quality." 

Without any football to play until the first pre-season match against Wrexham in Helsinki on 18 July, United's focus will be on transfers for the time being. 

Jason Wilcox will be desperate to find a move for Onana so he does not return to the first-team squad for pre-season, therefore putting unnecessary pressure on Senne Lammens. 

Having failed to win their qualifying matches, Cameroon will not be at the 2026 World Cup finals, meaning Onana will not want to wait until after the competition to finalise his future. 

Recent reports have stated that the former Ajax shotstopper would be interested in returning to Old Trafford to fight for his future, but United would prefer to cut their losses and their working relationship this summer. 

So, with that in mind, United need to act quickly and try to sell Onana before the squad returns to pre-season training. 

Michael Carrick already has several challenges ahead before the beginning of next season, and putting up with players who will not play for the club next term should not be another one of them.
