Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor will return to Wearside after helping his Haiti national side secure qualification for the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-finals, and most importantly for the Black Cats, without an injury.

In the early hours of Monday morning, Isidor enjoyed 89 minutes of action for Haiti and despite their 2-0 defeat to Costa Rica, the Sunderland striker's national side advanced to the Concacaf qualifiers after finishing second in Group A to book their spot in the final eight of the competition.

Isidor has enjoyed an outstanding international break for Haiti, but what will have been most concerning for the Sunderland supporters were reports of a potential injury for the 26-year-old striker ahead of Haiti's latest game.

Before Haiti's defeat to Costa Rica, reports circulated suggesting that Isidor was replaced after his brace against the Dominican Republic due to injury, and that the ramifications for Sunderland could be "potentially massive".

Thankfully, however, those reports have been proven untrue by Isidor himself, with the Sunderland striker capping off the international break with an 89-minute display in Haiti's final outing of the international break before being substituted late.

Wilson Isidor Enjoys Stunning International Break For Haiti

As a result, Isidor will return to Sunderland fit to face Brighton & Hove Albion at the Stadium of Light in the upcoming fixture, which will be a significant relief for Regis Le Bris given the fear over Brian Brobbey's hamstring injury picked up for the Netherlands against Germany during the break.

Isidor has hit Haiti form at the most opportune moment for Sunderland, given the worry regarding how long Dutchman Brobbey could be sidelined for, with an outstanding run of games for his national side.

In the first game of the break following Sunderland's 5-3 defeat at Manchester City, Isidor created two assists and scored an injury-time winner against Trinidid and Tobago to spearhead Haiti towards an imperative win.

Following 90 minutes of action in Haiti's subsequent 2-0 win over Costa Rica, Isidor was once again amongst the goals, with a brace and a missed penalty against the Dominican Republic to help his compatriots to a resounding 4-1 victory in another man of the match display.

Unfortunately, Isidor could not help Haiti to a second victory over Costa Rica, but regardless his performances played an imperative role in helping secure a place in the knockout stages of the CONCACAF Nations League.

Sunderland boss Le Bris will be delighted to see Isidor enjoy some stellar goalscoring form during the break, and perhaps will be even more elated to see the Black Cats forward return without an injury.

The severity and timeline for Brobbey's hamstring injury is yet unknown for Sunderland, but Isidor's superlative displays on Haiti duty has primed him to step up in the Dutchman's potential absence and enjoy similar goalscoring form when the Black Cats' season gets back underway.
