Anthony Joseph has confirmed that Celtic have agreed the £3 million deal on what is deadline day for English clubs.

Celtic have been very active in the transfer market lately. It has come as somewhat of a surprise, to be honest, following the Champions League exit.

Obviously, a lot of the transfer targets seem to have changed. But there are still a number of players who are set to arrive before deadline day.

On the other hand, plenty could be heading for the exit door between now and then. And with the English window closing tonight, there has been a flurry of activity.

Celtic agree £3 million deal

According to Anthony Joseph, Preston North End have agreed a £3 million transfer deal to sign Celtic striker Johnny Kenny.

It’s understood that the Ireland international has also agreed terms on a four-year deal with the Championship club as well.

Other clubs were believed to be interested in Kenny too, like Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers. But ultimately, Preston North End have come out on top.

Interestingly, Kenny has spent time out on loan at Bolton Wanderers in the past. So, this has to be considered a win for Preston North End that they were able to convince him to join them over his former side.

As for Celtic, they get a transfer fee out of the departure of a player who was clearly not in the club's plans. The fact that he has been shown the exit door despite Callum Osmand's injury is proof of that.

Celtic are set to sign a striker as well

Celtic are set to sign a striker of their own, as they have agreed a deal with Chelsea to bring in Shim Mheuka on loan for the season.

A lot of people might not know him because he has not established himself in senior football yet. But Mheuka has been elite in youth football.

He has 25 goals in 49 U21 appearances for Chelsea. And in six UEFA Youth League games, he has scored five times and assisted twice as well.

So, Chelsea have been handed a real talent here. How much football will he end up playing? That remains to be seen. He will surely be behind Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh to start off. And probably behind Osmand too, when he returns to fitness.

That being said, do not end up being surprised if Mheuka ends up exceeding a lot of people's expectations this season and ends up being a loan player the fans love.
