Anthony Joseph has finally confirmed some brilliant news that the Celtic fans had been waiting for.
Things have been looking up for Celtic recently. They have won their first two games of the league season. The second one was definitely a lot more convincing than the first.
Celtic won 5-1 away at Kilmarnock at the weekend. Their two summer signings starred on the day.
Kasper Hogh scored a hat-trick. It was a much-needed reminder of what he brings to the table after many had raised doubts about his quality following a tough debut against Dundee FC. Yes, none of the goals was extraordinary by any means, but it showed his clever movement in the box. His link-up play was impressive as well.
On the other hand, Camilo Duran provided an assist as well but it looks like the forward might not find himself playing on the right for much longer. That is because the Hoops are now set to sign a specialist winger for the position.
Anthony Joseph confirms Celtic transfer agreement
According to a report from Anthony Joseph on Sky Sports, Celtic are closing in on the signing of Egyptian international winger Haissem Hassan from Real Oviedo.
The two clubs are said to have agreed a deal in principle. It is set to be an initial fee of just under £6 million, plus around £3 million of add-ons.
A significant portion of the bonuses will be paid out if Celtic reach the main phase of the Champions League. The Hoops hope to have Hassan registered in time to be part of the squad for the play-off game against LASK Linz.
Hassan has already been given the green light to undergo a medical and finalise the paperwork on his contract.
Celtic set to sign Hassan after failed Ghedjemis bid
This is a move that has been anticipated for quite some time. For a little while, it had seemed like Celtic had turned their attention towards Fares Ghedjemis.
But Celtic's bid, believed to be in the region of £6 million, was turned down. Instead, it was reported in the media that Frosinone wanted more than double that in order to part ways with Ghedjemis.
Celtic clearly were not willing to spend that kind of money on a winger based on his Serie B performances. So, they turned their attention back to Hassan and seem to have reached a breakthrough.
One would expect an announcement to come through over the next couple of days. These are positive developments for the Hoops for sure, as it looks like they have finally freshened up their forward line, something that has been long overdue.
