Some bad news for Celtic has been confirmed as it looks like the Hoops might have made a mistake

Over the years, Celtic have made plenty of decisions in the transfer market that have left the fans scratching their heads. And there have been multiple this time around.

Celtic came into this transfer window knowing that they needed to strengthen in multiple positions. But so far, they have only addressed one, signing forwards Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh.

To be fair, Hogh did score a hattrick against Kilmarnock at the weekend, while Duran had an assist to his name. But overall, more signings are needed before the transfer window closes.

Unfortunately, at times, it feels like Celtic are not even going ahead and getting the simple deals done, allowing other clubs to swoop in.

Belgian club ready to submit bid for Celtic-linked player

According to The Courier, Anderlecht are set to table an offer in the region of £2.2 million for Dundee United left-back Will Ferry.

Anderlecht are thought to be willing to submit a transfer bid that could rise to nearer £3 million when you take the bonuses and clauses into consideration.

After all, Dundee United accepted a £1.7 million offer from Sigma Olomouc earlier in the summer, before Ferry turned it down himself. So, it is hard to imagine that the club will stand in the way this time around.

Also, Blackburn Rovers have also stepped up their interest in the Irish international. And while the report also talks about Celtic's interest, that move is starting to look beyond the Hoops' reach now, and it is their own doing.

This is not the first time they have seemingly passed on an easy chance to sign a Premiership-proven left-back either.

Why did Celtic not sign Marcelo Saracchi?

This should also raise further questions about the club's decision not to make a push and sign Marcelo Saracchi. The Uruguayan left-back did a spectacular job on loan at Celtic last season.

He proved himself more than capable of playing in the Scottish Premiership. In fact, some felt he was better than Kieran Tierney and deserved more starting minutes than he got.

Not only that, Boca Juniors were eager for a permanent exit this summer. And ultimately, as Celtic did not make their move, Houston Dynamo signed Saracchi for around $1.75 million.

It is hard to imagine that it is a figure that Celtic would have had trouble shelling out to sign a proven left-back option. The decision truly does not make any sense, as Saracchi had seemed keen on a return.
