The Scottish FA have made an official announcement regarding the upcoming game between Kilmarnock and Celtic.

Celtic did not look anywhere near their best in their opening league game of the season against Dundee FC. But they had enough in the tank to come out with a 1-0 win through Benjamin Nygren's goal.

Now, they are set to face their first away test of the season when they take on Kilmarnock today.

While Celtic's opener was a tight game, Kilmarnock were involved in a thriller. They lost 4-3 at the hands of St Johnstone.

So, this one could get interesting. And the Scottish FA have confirmed the officials for the game between Kilmarnock and Celtic.

Scottish FA make Kilmarnock vs Celtic announcement

The Scottish FA have announced that Ryan Lee will be the referee when Celtic take on Kilmarnock.

Lee will have Frank Connor and Daniel McFarlane as his two assistants. Andrew Dallas will be on VAR duty with David Dickinson as his assistant. Greg Soutar will be the fourth official for the day.

Obviously, the refereeing often ends up being a point of discussion in Scottish football. One would be hoping that there are no controversial decisions on the day and no debate about the referee's decisions after the game.

Celtic need to show improvement

While the 1-0 scoreline against Dundee FC does look like a narrow victory for Celtic, the margin could have been much wider if they had taken their chances.

Kasper Hogh fluffed his lines on more than one occasion in front of goal and failed to take up a couple of glorious opportunities to mark his debut with a goal. That display has already raised question marks over the striker's overall quality. Some are wondering whether he is capable of performing outside of the Bodo/Glimt setup.

Of course, it is far too early to make those calls. Hogh is expected to be leading the line against Kilmarnock as well and it will be wonderful for him to get a goal to boost his confidence.

It would have been better if Celtic had been able to make some additions to the squad over the week. Unfortunately, that has not happened.

It is worth mentioning that the team might not be up to full speed either. They only took part in three pre-season games. Many other top leagues across Europe have not even kicked off yet.

So, some of the players cannot be blamed for not looking at their best. One would hope that those 90 minutes and an added week of training has done them a world of good since then and they look a lot sharper when they take on Kilmarnock later today.
