The deal had been considered as good as done but now, some doubts are starting to crop up.

Is Haissem Hassan going to be a Celtic player? That is still pretty likely. But following recent reports in France, some doubts are starting to crop up, for sure.

It has been out for a while now that Celtic had submitted a £9 million transfer package to try and sign Hassan from Real Oviedo. But has an agreement been found?

That is not completely clear at this point in time. It depends on the source that you are listening to. One thing is for sure. Hassan was left out of Real Oviedo's pre-season game recently, which hints at a potential move.

Earlier in the day, there had been reports suggesting that an announcement could be made today. But it did not come. At least, it has not so far. And almost out of nowhere, it looks like another club have entered the race.

Marseille interested in Hassan

On the other hand, according to L'Equipe, Marseille's sporting management are monitoring several players, which includes Hassan.

Most had considered the deal as good as done over the updates in the last few days. But now, some doubts are starting to grow.

Could Marseille swoop in at the last minute and sign Hassan? One would hope that does not turn out to be the case. But then, the management has allowed this saga to drag on as well and it has allowed other clubs time to make their moves.

Everybody will remember how things turned out with Kasper Dolberg last summer. Could we see a repeat of that with Hassan?

Celtic cannot afford to miss out on Hassan

Celtic simply cannot allow Hassan to slip through their fingers. Let's not forget, they have already been priced out of a deal to sign Fares Ghedjemis from Frosinone.

Now, if they lose out on Hassan as well, they will be going for their third-choice transfer target on the wing, if that. There is not even a concrete name out there in this regard.

Also, we already know the pace at which Celtic moves when it comes to transfer business. So, any move for a different winger would likely take another week or two.

The best-case scenario would be Celtic getting a deal for Hassan over the line over the next few days. The longer this drags on, the more the doubts will grow.

Anything can end up happening though, so Celtic fans should be open to all possibilities. That being said, keep an eye out. Perhaps a transfer announcement could still come over the weekend.
