Viljami Sinisalo deserves a lot of credit for stepping in when Kasper Schmeichel suffered a serious injury and it became clear that the Danish legend's season, and potentially career, was over.

Sinisalo has done a decent job between the posts for sure, as Celtic have won the league title. He will be looking to make it a double when he stands between the posts at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup final against Dunfermline Athletic.

Celtic's last couple of visits to Hampden Park to take part in finals have not gone according to plan.

They lost the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen last season. That was followed by a loss at the hands of St Mirren in the League Cup final earlier this campaign.

Incidentally, Schmeichel put in poor performances in both those games. Now, Sinisalo will be looking to put that right and end Celtic's short but worrying losing streak when it comes to Hampden Park finals.

In the long run, it remains to be seen if Celtic view him as the number one choice between the posts. Some of the underlying stats do not paint a great picture.

Sinisalo has actually underperformed in goal if the stats are anything to go by. Facing an xGOT of 13.35 in the league, he has conceded 15 times. That is almost a couple of goals extra. In a title race as tight as this one, that could have proven to be the difference. Fortunately, it did not come to that.

Anyways, Schmeichel will leave in the summer. That is for sure, as his contract is up. And Celtic will need to sign a goalkeeper to take his place in the squad.

According to Football Insider, Nikolas Polster is interested in the idea of a move to Celtic this summer to become the club's starting goalkeeper.

Incidentally, his numbers paint a very different picture. Having faced an xGOT of 44.66, he has conceded only 40 times this season. So, he has saved his team almost five goals.

Also, he is the best in his league in a number of categories. He has the most successful passes as well as penalty saves, and is in the 85th percentile or higher in a variety of categories as well. He also seems assured at the back and has not made any errors that have led to conceding.

If there is one weakness in his game, it is his 66.9% save percentage, but even that is higher than Sinisalo's 60.5%.

Let's not forget, Celtic are one of the teams that does not take changes lightly. So, it would be a big call to replace Sinisalo, after he played a big part in their league triumph and was most certainly an improvement on Schmeichel in goal.
