Celtic have accepted a £10 million transfer bid for the key player as a move now only seems a matter of time.
Celtic have a number of players who could be on their way out this summer. And it looks like a bid has been accepted for one such name, who is going to leave a major void in this team.
Of course, this summer, Celtic need to strengthen their squad. But unfortunately, they are losing key players left, right and centre.
Kelechi Iheanacho has already left, having failed to agree on an extension with Celtic. Marcelo Saracchi's situation turned out similarly.
So, the squad had already been weakened. And now, it looks like Celtic have agreed to say goodbye to their best player.
Celtic accept bid for key player as summer exit closes in
According to Sky Sports, Ipswich Town have had a £10 million bid for Daizen Maeda accepted by Celtic.
The deal worth £8 million up front and £2 million in add-ons has been agreed in principle.
The Hoops have always seemed open to the idea of Maeda leaving this summer, having already spent more than four years at Parkhead, having arrived in early 2022.
One could argue that Maeda is worth more to this team than anybody they could sign with that £10 million fee. That being said, it perhaps would have been difficult to bring in a bigger figure for someone who is going to turn 29 years of age in October.

Why Maeda's exit is going to worry fans
Maeda has faced his fair share of criticism over his time at Celtic. That being said, nobody can deny what he achieved in the final few months of last season.
With things looking bleak, Maeda found his best form in a Celtic shirt. And that is saying quite something considering he scored 33 goals last season.
Maeda was Henrik Larsson-esque for the last few months of the campaign. There is no other way to put it.
Bicycle kicks in the derby against Rangers, first-time chipped finishes in the cup final, instinctive finishes on the last day of the league campaign with the title on the line, he did it all.
That is going to be his last memories in a Celtic shirt. And if an exit was inevitable, he could not have scripted a better one.
At 28 years of age, it is not hard to see why he might be keen to test himself at the highest level possible, which is the Premier League. We can only wish him the best of luck.
