Celtic are already plotting a move for the Premier League left-back even though we have not even seen Landon Emenalo in action yet.

Celtic have done reasonably well in this summer transfer window, strengthening their squad with quality reinforcements.

The Celts brought in most of their transfer targets this summer, with Kasper Hogh, Camilo Duran, Haissem Hassan, and Mika Baur arriving as their highest-value signings.

However, a few areas of the squad remain under the scanner, despite a brilliant start to the domestic campaign.

One of them is the left-back position, which Kieran Tierney has undoubtedly made his own since last season, but the Scottish international has had his fair share of injuries throughout his career and most recently missed two back-to-back games in the Premiership due to a minor knock.

Following the departure of Marcelo Saracchi upon the expiration of his loan move from Boca Juniors, the Hoops have brought Chelsea youth academy graduate Landon Emenalo on a similar season-long loan deal.

Although the Celts are yet to see their new signing in action, the teenager is still recovering from an injury which he received during a training session with his parent club.

As a result, the Hoops might still be looking for a more experienced option at left-back to add to their squad depth and are reportedly plotting a move for a Premier League player.

A recent report from Football Insider suggests that Celtic are keen to bolster their left-back depth in January, eyeing a possible move for Liverpool starlet Luke Chambers.

The 22-year-old has already acquired a lot of experience while playing for the likes of Wigan and Charlton Athletic, a requirement which is absent from Emenalo's resume.

Most importantly, Chambers also has Scottish Premiership experience under his belt since he played a crucial role for Kilmarnock during the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.

The club management's decision to bring in Emenalo despite the known injury certainly seems to be questionable at the moment, but they can make it right during the winter transfer window if they succeed in bringing in Chambers from the Reds.

Chambers' current contract with Liverpool runs out next summer; as a result, the Celts might look to move in for a permanent transfer rather than a loan move for the talented left-back.

The Celts were also reportedly keeping tabs on the likes of Greg Taylor and Will Ferry this summer, but none of those interests materialized into actual signings. Both Ferry and Taylor are certainly not long-term prospects for the club, and Tierney is also nearing the end of his prime each passing day.

As a result, Chambers looks to be the perfect signing for the Celts this coming winter if they can find a way to convince the young talent to make the move to Parkhead.
