Celtic have confirmed their decision for the game against Aberdeen right after the double announcement.
Martin O'Neill had hinted at three possible transfers earlier and more than those have been delivered. Interestingly, all of the recent arrivals at Celtic have been on loan.
Oliver Sorensen has arrived on a season-long loan from Parma. He is being viewed as a potential replacement for Arne Engels.
That has been followed by not one or two but three fresh additions today. Shim Mheuka and Landon Emenalo have arrived on loan from Chelsea. They are two of the Blues' most highly-rated youngsters.
So, they might not be household names yet but Cobham have a history of producing some of the best players in the world. Do not be surprised if either or both of them end up exceeding expectations.
On the other hand, Sam Johnstone has also arrived on a season-long loan from Wolves. The England international is expected to take Kasper Schmeichel's role in the squad and compete with Viljami Sinisalo over the starting spot.
Celtic confirm double decision
It was just earlier in the day that Celtic had announced the arrivals of Johnstone, Mheuka and Emenalo on season-long loan deals.
But two of them have now gone straight into the playing squad. Johnstone and Mheuka are available as substitutes on the bench for O'Neill.
Sorensen has made the bench as well, and it is quite likely that he might end up getting a run out in the park, especially if Celtic have a comfortable game and are in a position to take some easy decisions later on.
As for Emenalo, it should not come as a surprise that he is not part of the squad. Let us not forget that the only reason he did not complete the loan move earlier is that he had picked up an injury in training at Chelsea. The youngster was given time to recover before heading to Parkhead.
Will these signings make a difference at Celtic?
It is very hard to predict with youngsters whether they will work out or not. One thing that I can say is that these are premium talents, not here merely because they came through the Chelsea academy.
So, they have a much higher chance of making an impact than most might think they do. Let's hope that turns out to be the case.
As for Johnstone, you know what you will get from him. He is a veteran presence between the posts who is a short-term fix.
And Sorensen is probably the one who has the highest chance of becoming a regular starter for Celtic this season following the departures of both Engels and Reo Hatate.
