Celtic appear to have the Polish centre-back on their radar and the Hoops already made a €4 million bid for him in the winter.

Considering how underwhelming Celtic have been this season, the Hoops could do with reinforcements all across the pitch, from goalkeeper to striker. Of course, the centre-back position is no exception.

With Cameron Carter-Vickers yet to return from a long-term injury, Liam Scales and Auston Trusty have been placed as the preferred starting duo in the heart of the defence.

Both of them are left-footed though. A right-footed option at centre-back would make it a lot easier to play out from the back, even though it is not absolutely necessary.

Interestingly, Celtic have been linked with a couple of centre-backs over the past 24 hours or so. One of them is Sweden's Zinedin Smajlovic.

And another seems to be a player they have had on their radar for a while. In fact, if reports are accurate, the Hoops have already made a bid for him, which was last winter but a move did not materialise.

According to goal.pl, Celtic were following Oskar Wojcik until the final days of the winter transfer window. The Scots offered over €4 million. At that time, for various reasons, the deal wasn't finalised.

Celtic are not the only club being linked with the Polish centre-back either. The 22-year-old is also believed to be in the sights of Coventry City. Frank Lampard's side have won the Championship and earned promotion to the Premier League. They will be looking to strengthen this summer in hopes of staying up.

There is interest in his signature from Italy as well. Clubs like Torino, Fiorentina, and Bologna are said to be keeping an eye out.

So, it is not going to be easy for Celtic, even if they try to sign Wojcik again. That level of interest means that the transfer valuation has probably already gone up since the winter.

Earlier reports suggested that his club, Cracovia, were looking for a fee in the region of €5 million in order to part ways with the 22-year-old centre-back.

It is also worth pointing out that Wojcik has a contract until the summer of 2029. So, his club are not going to be under any immediate pressure if they do not receive the right offer for him. Let's see if Celtic end up making a push for the Polish centre-back.

Interestingly, Celtic already have another Polish centre-back on their books. Maik Nawrocki is currently out on loan in the German second division, playing for Hannover 96.
