Martin O'Neill's team selection for the game against St Mirren has raised the eyebrows of a fair few Celtic supporters.

With just six matches left to be played in the Scottish league this season, Celtic cannot afford to drop any further points. Hearts' draw on the previous matchday has allowed the Hoops the chance to get right back into the mix but they are still third in the points table, three behind Derek McInnes' side and two behind the Rangers.

Of course, with all three sides playing against each other over the coming weeks, there is still a lot of scope for movement in the league table. But Celtic will need to make sure that they pick up maximum points from their other matchups as well.

Their next matchup is against St Mirren. They might be 10th in the league but have already gotten the better of Celtic in a pressure game this season, winning the League Cup final 3-1 at Hampden Park.

So, Celtic cannot afford to take them lightly, even at home. All of the Hoops' recent wins have been narrow ones and it is hard to remember the last time they won convincingly. So, do not be surprised if this turns out to be a tight contest as well.

Celtic's starting XI for the game against St Mirren has now been named and some people might not be happy with Martin O'Neill's selection decisions on the day.

A lot of eyebrows seem to have been raised at the decision to start with Tomas Cvancara, Anthony Ralston and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

One fan account wrote: "Cvancara over Iheanacho?!!!!"

But then, many were quick to point out that Kelechi Iheanacho might not be fit enough to be starting games at the moment. His best use might be coming off as an impact substitute. That being said, that does not change the fact that Tomas Cvancara has been poor in front of the goal. Another bad piece of recruitment on the part of Celtic.

One fan wrote: "Sarrachi at RB surely, how ralston is still at celtic is beyond me."

Of course, that is a suggestion worth considering. That being said, it would have meant having all four left-footers in the backline, which would have made it difficult to build from the back. So, it is an understandable decision, especially with every other right-back out injured.

The decision to leave Reo Hatate on the bench has drawn some criticism as well. One wrote: "Wasn’t Hatate our best player in the 4 or 5 games before the break?"

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made a bright start as a Celtic player, scoring a late winner. But he has not exactly impressed the supporters since then.

Another decision that might come under the microscope is to drop Benjamin Arthur again. The Brentford loanee had looked pretty comfortable at the back for Celtic, in the chances that he has gotten, and would have solved the left-footed problem as well. But it looks like Martin O'Neill wants to stick to the experienced duo of Liam Scales and Auston Trusty.
