The Celtic injury news has turned out to be fake after the player started for his national team.

There is a lot of negativity around Celtic at the moment, as the team have struggled to produce results. They went into the international on a three game losing streak.

That had led to question marks over the future of Martin O'Neill. There have been suggestions that the Northern Irish manager could be considering an exit. It remains to be seen how accurate they are.

Amid all this, it had also been reported by several outlets that one of Celtic's players had picked up an injury, which would make things even more difficult for the Hoops.

Fortunately, as it turns out, the injury news has turned out to be fake, which will come as a relief to Celtic supporters.

Celtic player not injured as reports proven fake

The player in question was none other than Haissem Hassan, the Egyptian winger signed from Real Oviedo this summer.

Despite reports of Hassan being injured, the winger started for Egypt in their game against Angola, and ended up playing for 60 minutes.

So, that is definitive proof that there is nothing to be worried about. Celtic can continue to count on Hassan, unless he ends up picking some sort of injury between now and the end of this international break.

The news about Hassan being injured might have been nothing more than a case of a lost in translation.

Does Haissem Hassen deserve a regular starting spot?

Hassan's life as a Celtic player has been stop-and-start so far. A lot of the time, O'Neill has tried to fit Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran into the same starting XI.

That has often come at the expense of Hassan, who has had to be left on the bench to make room for both Hogh and Duran in the same team.

Lately, there have been more calls for Hassan to start on the wing and Duran up front, as Hogh has failed to impress since his record move to Celtic in the summer.

Let's see if that turns out to be O'Neill's preferred setup coming out of the international break. It is a positive that he looks to have the choice to put out that team if he wants to, as Hassan is not out injured.

Otherwise, Celtic are already short of options on the flanks right now, especially ones who can make an impact. Someone like Hassan can do that with his direct style of play, although he does need to improve his output.
