It has been claimed that Celtic are "particularly fond" of the 14-goal striker, coming off his breakthrough season.

Signing a striker or two has to be a priority for Celtic going into this summer transfer window. We saw what they can do in the last few weeks of the 25/26 season as Daizen Maeda finally found his form while Kelechi Iheanacho exceeded all expectations as an impact substitute.

Maeda is widely expected to leave Celtic at the end of this season. If he does want to depart after four-and-a-half years at Parkhead, the club should not stand in his way.

But it would also mean that Celtic would be losing the single most important player in their league title triumph last season. He was almost Henrik Larsson-esque in the final few weeks of the campaign. It would be almost impossible to replace that ability to rise to the occasion or his relentless work rate.

One would hope that Celtic will take up the option to extend Iheanacho's contract by another year as well. He has earned it with his numerous winners off the bench when the club needed a hero.

Who are their other options up front? Callum Osmand has a ton of talent but he might not be ready to be a starting-level striker yet. As for Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu, do not expect to see them in a Celtic shirt ever again.

Amid all this, it looks like a striker from Ligue 2 has caught the attention of the Hoops after his breakout campaign.

According to Footmercato, Celtic are particularly fond of Tairyk Arconte's explosive profile.

Arconte currently plays for Rodez in the second division of French football. He scored 14 goals across all competitions last season alongside four assists. It looks like that was enough to catch the eye of Celtic.

At the international level, Arconte plays for Guadeloupe and has scored three times for them in seven appearances.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Arconte. But it would be a surprise if he is still playing in Ligue 2 next season.

Obviously, many Celtic fans won't be impressed by the fact that the club are eyeing someone playing in the second division of French football. Then again, there is talent to be found their.

Newcastle United recently agreed a £25 million deal to sign a goalkeeper from Ligue 2, Ewen Jaouen. That should tell you everything you need to know about the modern football transfer market and scouting systems.
