It looks like the Premier League club are eyeing another move for the Celtic player this summer after a failed £26 million bid.
Celtic will need to make sure that they strengthen their squad this summer. But that might prove to be easier said than done.
The Hoops are coming out of an underwhelming season but they were still good enough to win a double. Now, their best players are being linked with moves away, which is going to further weaken an already struggling squad.
Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate seem almost certain to leave this summer. But they could be joined by some high-profile names as well.
Those who were instrumental in Celtic's late winning run in the season to help clinch the league title.
Someone who often does not get the credit that he deserves, because a lot of his work on the pitch goes unseen or is not flashy, is Arne Engels. But you cannot question his impact on the team.
Engels returned in early April, and Celtic's fortunes turned around. They ended up winning all eight games after that, all of which the Belgian midfielder was involved in.
Now, according to the Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest have once again considered Engels, whom they bid £26m for in January.
Celtic did well to keep Engels beyond January, even though an offer of that magnitude arrived at their table. If they had let him go, thinking nothing could be salvaged out of the campaign, they would not have won the thrilling double that they did.
Of course, that is now in the past. And one would imagine that Celtic would be much more open to an integral player like Engels leaving, now that the season is over.
They might also back themselves to be able to find a replacement for him at a fraction of the transfer fee they are likely to receive out of the Belgian's exit.
Obviously, fans would want to see the club's best players stay for as long as possible. But that simply has not been the reality of life at Celtic for a very long time. And in the modern world of football finances, that is not likely to change either.
Now, let's see if Nottingham Forest do end up returning with another bid for Engels or not. If they do, it is likely going to break the Scottish transfer record, which Celtic have already done multiple times since 2019. Incidentally, two of those players even ended up returning to Parkhead and are currently on their books.
