Celtic have made a triple announcement, including the appointment of Martin O'Neill as manager.
It is over the line. Martin O'Neill has been announced as the new permanent manager of Celtic. He arrives on a one-year deal plus the option for another.
There had been some panic amongst the fans after the announcement had not been made. But as I had pointed out in our previous report on the matter, news like this does not spread as much unless it is based in reality. If it were not factual, the club would have openly ruled it out already.
So, it is unsurprising that O'Neill's arrival has now been made official, soon after he was spotted leaving Glasgow Airport. Now, Celtic need to focus on the next steps.
For them, that is building a quality squad and having a good pre-season to ensure that the upcoming campaign is better than the previous one.
Obviously, that might sound wrong, considering Celtic are fresh off winning a double. But it was up to their standards by any means.
Talking about the pre-season, two more announcements have been made by the club regarding it.
Earlier, it had been confirmed that Celtic would be welcoming AC Milan to Parkhead. Now, two more pre-season fixtures have officially been added to the calendar.
According to the club's official website, Celtic will be making a trip to Ireland for the fourth year in a row. This time around, they will take on Shelbourne on July 7 at Tolka Park in Drumcondra, Dublin.
Alongside that, they will also be heading to a training camp in Portugal, which will end with a friendly game against Sporting Lisbon on July 14 at the Estadio Algarve.
It is safe to say that things are starting to take shape for Celtic. Obviously, they still have others to work on.
The summer transfer window is obviously going to be a very important one for them as it is their opportunity to strengthen the squad.
That might not be easy to pull off though. Especially not this time with the likes of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and more expected to leave.
There is speculation around the futures of players like Reo Hatate, Benjamin Nygren and others as well.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the rest of the squad. But it is safe to say that there is plenty of room for improvement after a season in which they managed just five more league points than the nightmare 20/21 campaign.
