Celtic have now officially announced a new arrival from one of their Scottish Premiership rivals.

Celtic should be looking to strengthen all across the board this summer. So far, most of the decisions have revolved around the dugout. Of course, that needed to be sorted first and fortunately, it has been to a large extent.

Martin O'Neill is back as manager. And after a few nervy weeks, deals were agreed to bring back Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham as well.

Unfortunately, the entire Celtic coaching team has not stuck together. Gavin Strachan has left to join West Bromwich Albion. He had been at the club since 2020. So, his absence will be felt.

On the other hand, Celtic have now added a new face to their coaching unit as well. And the fact that he is coming in from Hearts might make it even sweeter for the club's supporters.

Celtic Announce Arrival of Coach from Hearts

Celtic have now officially announced on their website that Ross Grant will be joining O'Neill's coaching staff. He has a particular focus on set-piece analysis and coaching.

Grant holds a UEFA ‘A’ Licence. He has plenty of experience in Scottish football as well. Before joining Hearts, he had a stint at Dundee United.

Celtic's announcement also makes it clear that Grant is a lifelong supporter of the club.

Data Shows Grant Signing Could Be A Masterstroke

The focus of Celtic this summer has to be on improving the team in every aspect possible. And someone like Grant should be able to do that in one particular area.

As we mentioned already, Grant's focus is on set-piece analysis and coaching. And he produced tremendous results in that aspect at Hearts last season.

Hearts scored the most set-piece goals in the Scottish Premiership with 23 to their name. In contrast, Celtic were seventh on that list. They scored just 10.

Hearts also outperformed their xG massively from set plays, which was 16.8. On the other hand, Celtic underperformed as theirs was 12.

So, Grant could help Celtic with their set plays. And of course, it is not just a matter of bringing in a coach and magically turning things around. There are a lot of other factors that come into play as well. But given the right tools, he has shown, though that he can produce results.

Also, one would have to wonder if Grant will have more of a say in other aspects than merely set-pieces as well, basically replacing the role that Strachan had in the coaching team.
