There is a transfer update involving the winger Celtic want to sign in this summer transfer window.
Celtic tried strengthening their options on the flanks last summer. The Hoops signed two wingers on a permanent basis. Unfortunately, the results did not go according to plan.
Michel-Ange Balikwisha had been followed for over a year before Celtic signed him last summer. One can only wonder what the scouting department saw, because the winger has not been able to impress at all since arriving at Parkhead.
Balikwisha made just 14 appearances for the club last season. And he was frozen out for most of the campaign. His last league game was in October. His last overall appearance was in January.
To be fair, Sebastian Tounekti, Celtic's other winger signing from last season, played a lot more often. But he simply was not able to maintain the bright start that he had made upon arrival.
On top of that, Jota remains out injured and is not expected to be fit to start the next season. It remains to be seen if he is even able to return to action this year or not.
So, all this considered, Celtic are expected to sign a winger or two this summer. And a Borussia Dortmund player is on their radar. Unfortunately, they are not the only ones in the race to sign him.
Bundesliga Club Exploring Deal to Sign Borussia Dortmund Winger Celtic Want
According to Florian Plettenberg, SV Elversberg are exploring a deal to sign Cole Campbell. They are newcomers to the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund have been informed. Talks have started and are ongoing. Celtic are also interested in Campbell.
Of course, reports of Celtic's interest in Campbell first emerged a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, not much progress does not seem to have been made since then.
Even if there has been progress, that news has not broken to the media. On the other hand, other clubs are now emerging in the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund winger.
Would Cole Campbell be the Right Signing for Celtic?
Campbell has the reputation, as he is on the books at Borussia Dortmund. But is he a player who will strengthen Celtic?
To be honest, Campbell does not have a ton of senior level experience. The 20-year-old has appeared just seven times for Borussia Dortmund.
He was sent on loan to Hoffenheim, but only played five times for them. So, it has been far from a smooth transition to senior football.

Of course, it could work out quite well for him at Celtic. But at the same time, it might not. So, there would be a level of risk involved.
The safest idea would be to sign him on loan with an option to buy, or obligation, depending on certain objectives. But as new teams enter the race, Celtic's leverage will decrease.
