It has been claimed that Celtic are ready to bid as high as £5 million to sign the midfielder this summer.

Celtic's midfield department could undergo a lot of changes in this upcoming summer transfer window. For one, a number of their established names are being linked with moves away.

Arne Engels has been drawing the interest of multiple Premier League clubs, including Nottingham Forest, who are set to part with Elliot Anderson in a £116 million deal and will be looking for a replacement.

Benjamin Nygren could be on the receiving end of a significant bid as well after an excellent debut campaign in Celtic colours. He is also currently away at the World Cup, which gives him a platform to impress the best clubs on the planet.

When it comes to Reo Hatate and Paulo Bernardo, they are almost certain to leave after a lack of playing time under Martin O'Neill.

Callum McGregor has also been linked with a move away to reunite with Brendan Rodgers at Al-Qadsiah, but for now, he seems to be focused on next season with Celtic.

Celtic Willing to Bid £5m to Sign Midfielder

All things considered, Celtic could need to fill a few midfield spots this summer. And one Premiership player is on their radar.

Celtic have rarely signed players from other Premiership clubs in recent years. That might be a good way to strengthen the squad, though, as such talents are already proven in Scotland and the risk of failure to adjust is not as great as a result.

According to Football Insider, Celtic are very keen to sign Miguel Chaiwa of Hibernian. But they will only look to bid as high as £5 million for the midfielder.

So, Celtic are unwilling to meet the £7 million transfer fee that Hibernian are reported to be looking for to part ways with Chaiwa.

Would a £5 million offer be enough to convince Hibernian to change their minds and sanction a move for Chaiwa? Time shall tell.

Why Miguel Chaiwa Could Be a Great Signing for Celtic

A great squad is one that has depth and all sorts of different profiles in order to adjust to different match situations. Adding someone like Chaiwa would be a step in that direction for Celtic.

The Hoops simply do not have that defensive midfielder profile at the moment. In fact, they have not had a steady presence in that role for many years now.

The likes of Ismaila Soro and Tomoki Iwata had short runs as starters but did not establish themselves as long-term stars at Celtic.

As for Oliver Abildgaard, who had only been brought in on loan, he was never able to find his feet and eventually had his stint cut short.

Chaiwa is someone who has proven himself to be phenomenal in the defensive phase of the game. He is the engine in the middle of the park who will make tackles, win back possession and get things moving in the right direction once again.
