Celtic have officially announced a transfer move out of nowhere, even though there had been zero speculation about it.
With less than a month left in this summer transfer window, it is safe to say that there is a ton of speculation out there surrounding Celtic. But a move has now taken place that was not anticipated.
Daizen Maeda and Kelechi Ihenacho have already left. Marcelo Saracchi has not been brought back either.
On top of that, Celtic have a ton of other players who might be looking to leave over the coming weeks as well, further weakening the squad.
One such exit has now taken place. But it might not end up having that big of an impact on the squad after all.
Celtic announce midfielder's exit
Celtic have officially announced that Paulo Bernardo has joined Polish side Gornik Zabrze on loan, with an option to buy.
On paper, it should come as no surprise that Bernardo is leaving Celtic. Just look at the game time he got last season. Something needed to give. And it has.
There had been little to no speculation about Bernardo's exit though. Most of the talk had been about Arne Engels and Alistair Johnston leaving.
So, Bernardo's exit has come almost out of nowhere. But at the same time, that does not mean that it is not the right decision. Clearly, something had been in the works in the background that did not find its way into the media.
Why Bernardo's exit might not be a big problem
Bernardo's leaving should not be a major problem for Celtic. Yes, he did have some bright moments over his time at the club, but at no point was he a nailed-on starter.
This gives Bernardo a chance to go somewhere where he will hopefully get to play regular football and show what he is capable of.
Does he have a future at Celtic in the long run? To be honest, if you ask me, that does not feel like the case.

More often than not, when Celtic players are out on loan, it results in them leaving on a permanent basis after showcasing their qualities away from Parkhead. Luis Palma and Maik Nawrocki are great examples from this very window.
It is very likely that something similar will happen with Bernardo as well, even if he ends up having a great spell in Poland.
So, let's see what the future holds for the Portuguese midfielder. We can only wish him the best in this new adventure.
