The Celtic player has reportedly joined a new agency as he continues to be linked with a summer exit from Parkhead.
It feels like this squad has stagnated and needs a reshuffle. A lot of the players signed during the Ange Postecoglou era might have reached the end of their road at Celtic and are no longer performing like they used to. The same can be said about a few of the early Brendan Rodgers additions as well.
Paulo Bernardo is someone who had started well at Celtic. Brought in on loan from Benfica, he contributed positively in the 23/24 campaign for the Hoops and was eventually signed on a permanent basis.
But over time, he has lost his place in the team. This season has been by far his worst as a Celtic player. Even as the club have continuously underperformed, Bernardo has not been given the chances that he needs to show what he is capable of.
In the Premiership, Bernardo has played just 226 minutes of football this season. In total, he has played for 634 minutes across all competitions. The Portuguese midfielder has neither scored nor assisted. Not exactly what he would have been hoping for after seven goal contributions in each of his first two seasons with the club.
It feels like Bernardo's time at Celtic Park is coming to an end. And we might already have the clearest hint yet that that is going to be the case.
According to Football Insider, Bernardo has signed up with a new agency ahead of a potential exit from Celtic this summer.
The Portuguese midfielder has signed a deal with The Team ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, as the 24-year-old looks set to potentially try and find a route out of Celtic Park.
To be honest, it would be the best step for both parties if Bernardo does end up leaving the club in the summer transfer window. It is quite clear that he has not place in the team.
By his third season, the hope would have been for Bernardo to develop into a starter. Instead, he has slipped down the pecking order and is playing about a third of the football that he was in the previous campaign. The writing is pretty much on the wall.
