It looks like Celtic are pushing to sign not one but two wingers before the new season starts.

With the start of the season merely a couple of weeks away, Celtic will need to pick up the pace when it comes to their transfer activity. So far, the club have made only one new signing, which was the arrival of Camilo Duran from Qarabag.

Duran has made a fast start, scoring in his debut in pre-season against Sporting CP. At the same time though, the Hoops lost that game 4-1.

That result will not fill the fans with confidence. Martin O'Neill's side need to do a lot better. And making more signings will help in that.

It has never been a secret that the squad was not good enough last season. Fortunately, even though it has come a bit late, it does look like club are working towards completing more signings before the new season starts.

Celtic pushing to complete double deal

According to a report from Glasgow World, Celtic are ‘pushing for several transfers’ over the next week. That includes FC Utrecht winger Adrian Blake and Egyptian World Cup hero Haissem Hassan.

It is believed that Martin O'Neill is looking to strengthen in multiple other areas before their season gets underway. That will be against Dundee at Celtic Park on August 3.

Of course, Celtic have been linked with Hassan for a little while now, even going back to before his impressive displays for Egypt at the World Cup.

Blake is a fresher name when it comes to the rumour mill though. And it is interesting that both of them are wingers.

Celtic have a depth problem on the wings

Yang Hyun-jun deserves a ton of credit for stepping up to the plate last season. In the summer, it had looked like his Celtic career was over and he was set to join Birmingham City.

That move collapsed in the final steps though, which was fortunate for Celtic. Yang was their best winger by far.

Other than him, Celtic do not have a legitimate starting calibre option though. Sebastian Tounekti had the role last season but was largely viewed as one of the weak links in the team.

Michel-Ange Balikwisha only featured a handful of times before he was frozen out of the squad and did not even make an appearance for the last several months.

At this point, James Forrest is an option to bring off the bench, not a starter. And when it comes to Jota, it is still unclear when he will return. The current estimation is that it could be late October at best.

So, it would not come as any surprise if Celtic do end up signing a couple of wingers this summer. Will those be Hassan and Blake? Time shall tell.
