Celtic have officially announced another summer transfer move as they continue to reshape the squad.

Celtic fans want the club to be a lot more active than they have been so far in this summer transfer window. The 4-1 defeat at the hands of Sporting CP should come as a wake-up call.

Of course, it is never a good idea to read too much into pre-season results. At the end of the day, it is more about regaining fitness after the summer break more than anything else.

That being said, the Champions League qualifiers are not far away. And we have seen the Hoops falter on numerous occasions over the years when it comes to facing European opposition early in the new campaign.

So, it would be a good idea to bring in fresh faces as early as possible and allow them time to settle in at Celtic, find their fitness and also get used to Martin O'Neill's tactical setup.

Unfortunately, they have only signed one player so far this summer, bringing in Camilo Duran from Qarabag. Incidentally, he was on the scoresheet vs Sporting CP. Fans will be hoping it is a sign of things to come.

Celtic announce another summer transfer exit

Well, there is already some more movement in the club's striker ranks. While Duran has arrived, another of them has left.

Celtic have officially announced that Shin Yamada has joined Belgian side OH Leuven in a season-long loan deal.

Yamada was signed by the club last summer from Kawasaki Frontale. There were doubts about the striker to begin with, as many fans thought he was not at the level required to be making an impact at Celtic.

The doubters have unfortunately been proven right. It is hard to see a future for Yamada at Celtic.

He spent time out on loan last season in the German second division. Now, he has headed to Belgium to bring his career back on track.

What does the future hold for Shin Yamada and Kelechi Iheanacho?

The fact that Yamada has not headed back to Japan, like so many of his predecessors who could not find their feet at Celtic, does go to show that he wants to make a mark in Europe.

It is also worth pointing out that there have been some positive noises around the Kelechi Iheanacho situation.

While Celtic let the option to extend his contract automatically expire, since then, they have put a new offer on the table for the Nigerian striker.

It is believed that Iheanacho wants to stay at Celtic as well. So, one would imagine that an agreement will be reached soon.
