Fabrizio Romano has dropped some great news for Celtic as a long-term target seems set to move this summer.
Celtic have made just one new addition so far in this summer transfer window. Camilo Duran has been brought in from Qarabag for a transfer deal that could rise to £6 million if all add-ons are met.
Duran had a positive 25/26 campaign, scoring five times in the Champions League and 15 goals in total. That being said, even the most optimistic of Celtic fans would agree that the board need to make more additions.
Celtic were nowhere near the mark last season. When compared to the 24/25 league campaign, they scored 39 goals fewer and conceded 15 times more.
So, additions are needed on both ends of the pitch. They have already added a striker. Could a goalkeeper be next?
Fabrizio Romano drops update on Manchester United goalkeeper
Earlier today, we had speculated on Celtic making a possible move for Altay Bayindir after Manchester United announced the signing of Karl Darlow.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on the Turkish goalkeeper. According to the Italian journalist Bayindir is expected to leave the club.
The name of Bayindir will be a familiar one to Celtic fans. The goalkeeper has been linked with the Hoops on multiple occasions in the past, going back to the summer of 2024.
Now, with Kasper Schmeichel retired, Celtic have only one genuine option in goal, which is Viljami Sinisalo.
Even the minimum expectation is for them to add another quality goalkeeper to compete with Sinisalo for the starting gloves. Making a move for Bayindir would not be the worst idea in the world.
Why signing Bayindir is not a bad idea for Celtic
Many might look at Bayindir's three seasons at Manchester United and not be convinced about signing him. But look at what came before it.
Bayindir was a nailed-on starter for Fenerbahce. And he even played 12 times for the Turkey national team.
That just goes to show how highly he was regarded. Yes, it did not work out for him at Old Trafford, but it has not for most in recent times.

If Celtic can get Bayindir for a reasonable transfer fee, they should be all over that deal. The other goalkeepers being linked with the Hoops are not particularly convincing either.
Tjark Ernst plays in the German second division for Hertha Berlin. Dinko Horkas plays for La Liga 2 side Las Palmas. Will they be able to make the jump and adjust to the pressure that comes with being the Celtic number one?
