It looks like Celtic might end up making a €10 million bid for a midfielder once they complete the deal for Haissem Hassan.

Things are looking up for Celtic again. Their two summer signings starred in their 5-1 win over Kilmarnock at the weekend.

Kasper Hogh scored a hat-trick. And Camilo Duran provided an assist. Of course, it is just one match, but so was the opener. So, if that was enough to draw criticism, this should be enough to earn applause.

At the same time, Celtic are on the verge of completing their third signing of the summer transfer window as well and they might not stop there.

Reliable sources have confirmed that Celtic have agreed a deal in principle to sign Haissem Hassan from Real Oviedo already. If everything goes according to plan, the move should become official over the next few days.

But it looks like Celtic already have their eyes on another addition. More areas on the pitch need to be strengthened, especially if they want to do well in Europe.

Celtic readying new bid for midfielder

According to CalcioNews24, Celtic have been closely monitoring Gvidas Gineitis for weeks. Initial contact dates back about three weeks, when the Scottish champions presented a €7.5 million offer. Unfortunately, it was deemed insufficient by Torino. The Italian club want a transfer fee between €12 million and €13 million.

This slowed down negotiations but did not lead to a complete cooling of interest. Celtic have no intention of abandoning the race to sign Gineitis. A concrete offer could arrive in the next few hours, with a new figure close to €10 million.

Would that be enough to convince Torino to part with the midfielder? While it is lower than what they want, one would imagine that there is going to be some room for negotiating.

Also, there is a possibility that bonuses could help unlock the deal. They were key in finding an agreement for Hassan as well.

Why Celtic need someone like Gineitis

Celtic's midfield has not been significantly weakened so far this summer. But it feels like only a matter of time.

Arne Engels has been linked with a variety of clubs for months. In fact, it is believed that he has already agreed on personal terms with West Ham United.

West Ham United have not been able to find an agreement with Celtic so far. But more often than not, ultimately, the Hoops do end up agreeing to big-money departures, even if negotiations drag on for a while.

So, it is quite likely that Engels will not be a Celtic player by the end of this window. If so, Gineitis could be his replacement.

Paulo Bernardo has also left on loan. But in his case, it is not going to have much of an impact on the team as he was barely playing before his exit.
