Celtic are still in contention for a double but it looks like the club have already agreed their first summer transfer.
The summer transfer window is still some time away and Celtic still have a lot left to play for this season. This has been the closest title race in Scottish football in decades, coming down to a one-off game on the final matchday of the Premiership campaign.
Celtic will welcome Hearts to Parkhead. If the Hoops win, they will be crowned champions of Scotland in front of their home supporters. If the visitors win, they will win a historic league title.
It has been over forty years since neither Celtic nor the Rangers won the league. Sir Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen were the last team to achieve that feat.
Of course, Celtic will be hoping to make sure that run continues. They will also have some added incentive, if they need any, as this will be Martin O'Neill's last game at Parkhead.
Obviously, O'Neill has the chance to win two trophies in his last two games. Celtic will also play in the Scottish Cup final, taking on Neil Lennon's Dunfermline Athletic. It can be the storybook ending for the 74-year-old Northern Irishman.
Behind the scenes, it looks like work is already underway at Celtic for what promises to be a very important summer transfer window for the club. Let's not forget, whether the Hoops win the double or not, this has been an underwhelming campaign by their standards.
They have struggled to win games convincingly and the gap that existed between Celtic and the other teams in Scotland simply does not exist anymore. That needs to be rebuilt.
That would mean signing quality players. But at the same time, some need to be shown the exit door as well. And it looks like one such move has already been agreed.
We are talking about Luis Palma. The Honduran winger who is currently on loan at Lech Poznan, who have a €4 million option to sign him permanently but have seemed reluctant to meet that.
According to Mateusz Borek (via Goal.pl), a breakthrough has occurred and the parties have finally reached an agreement. Lech Poznan will be able to sign Palma for €2.5 million.
If this news is confirmed, the club will set a new transfer record. Their biggest transfer move currently is the €2.3 million signing of Yannick Agnero.
There is a section of the Celtic fanbase who would not mind seeing Palma back at Parkhead and get a chance under a different manager. But it looks like his time at the club might be coming to an end if reports coming out of Poland are on the mark.
Palma had actually enjoyed a brilliant start to life as a Celtic player, even impressing in the Champions League.
But he lost his form over the course of the season and once he was out of the starting XI, he never found a way back in under Brendan Rodgers.
