There is a transfer update on the Celtic-linked player, as it looks like a deal has been agreed.

Celtic have been linked with a long list of players in recent times. Midfield is one area which has been a particular area of focus. That is because a number of the club's midfielders could be on their way out in the summer.

Arne Engels is someone who has been constantly linked with a move away. Several Premier League clubs as well as Napoli are believed to be interested.

Celtic did turn down a £25 million bid in the winter. They might not be in a position to do the same if a similar or an even bigger offer arrives this summer.

Engels is not the only one who could be on his way out. Reo Hatate is almost certain to leave as well, having barely featured in the final few weeks of the season during Celtic's title run-in.

There is uncertainty around the future of Benjamin Nygren as well. The Swede was Celtic's highest goalscorer last season and his featuring at the World Cup as well. He did not rule out the possibility of an exit when asked about it.

Paulo Bernardo is another midfielder who is almost certain to depart, considering how little football he has been afforded at Celtic Park in recent times.

So, with all this uncertainty around the midfield position, it is unsurprising that Celtic have been linked with quite a few midfielders. One of them is Bobby Clark.

Clark has been on Celtic's radar going back to his time at Liverpool. But the move has never really materialised. It won't this summer either.

Celtic have missed out once again. Derby County have announced that they have signed Clark on a permanent basis from RB Salzburg.

He had spent the season on loan there. And now, Clark has signed a four-year contract with the Rams for an undisclosed fee.

So, that is pretty much the end of Celtic's interest in Clark. They will need to look towards other midfielders.

That is a bit disappointing as Clark has the talent to be a solid signing for Celtic. But he will now continue to play in the Championship.

As for Celtic, it is about somehow improving their squad after what was a poor 25/26 campaign by their standards, even though they won the double.

Of course, that is easier said than done. It is never simple to replace the kind of quality and talent that might be leaving Celtic Park this summer, forget improving upon it.
