It looks like Celtic have their eyes on a €10 million-rated Norwegian midfielder, who scored a hat-trick to start off the season.

Recently, Celtic parted ways with a Norwegian midfielder. The club have sent Odin Thiago Holm on loan back to Valerenga. He was signed in the summer of 2023 and has had three underwhelming campaigns, including time away at LAFC, as he has failed to reach his potential. The hope is that he will get his career on track, now that he is in familiar surroundings.

On the other hand, it looks like Celtic have their eyes on a Norwegian midfielder currently playing for Tromso. Incidentally, they are competing with Valerenga at the top of the Eliteserien table at the start of the season in Norway.

According to Il Resto del Carlino, Jens Hjerto-Dahl already has a value of around €8-10 million. He is liked by Celtic, Rangers, Besiktas and even several scouts from the Premier League and the Bundesliga have moved for the midfielder.

Standing at 194cm, he is a physical presence in the middle of the park, something that Celtic have missed for years now. But at the same time, he has already developed an output to his name at just 20 years of age.

Hjerto-Dahl scored five goals and provided seven assists last season. If the morning shows the day, then he is going to improve on those numbers in this campaign.

Hjerto-Dahl started off the Eliteserien campaign by scoring a hat-trick in the opening game for Tromso, as they won 4-0.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Hjerto-Dahl. There seems to be plenty of interest in his signature.

Let's see if Celtic do end up making a serious push to sign him or not. The club do need to make some statement signings in the summer after what has been a poor campaign for the Hoops.

That being said, with Premier League and Bundesliga interest in Hjerto-Dahl as well, they might have a tough time convincing him to move to the Scottish Premiership. Of course, how things have turned out for Holm in Glasgow might not help their case either.

When Holm was signed by Celtic three years ago, he was one of Norwegian football's brightest talents as well. But it would be safe to say that his development did not go according to plan, and he was never really afforded the chances that he needed at Parkhead.

That being said, every case is unique. Hjerto-Dahl is a very different profile to Holm. And just because it did work out for the former does not mean that the latter cannot succeed in Celtic colours, if he does end up in Glasgow.

On the contrary, the transfer fee that it would take to sign Hjerto-Dahl makes it more likely that he will be afforded the opportunities that he needs.
