Martin O'Neill has confirmed the Celtic injury news, which explains the player's absence.

Celtic continued their winning form in domestic competitions. Goals from Camilo Duran, Benjamin Nygren and Yang Hyun-jun were enough to seal a 3-0 win over Aberdeen.

Of course, the sting of the Champions League qualification exit against LASK is still there. But one can only look at the positives.

One of them has to be the fact that the club have made quite a few additions before deadline day, albeit only on loan.

Oliver Sorensen's arrival was made official yesterday. That has been followed by the arrivals of Shim Mheuka and Landon Emenalo from Chelsea, and Sam Johnstone from Wolves.

Why new Celtic signing missed game vs Aberdeen

Three of those four players were in the squad that faced Aberdeen today. In fact, Sorensen and Mheuke even came on as substitutes to make their debuts for Celtic.

The only name that was missing though was that of Emenalo. But in case you have been wondering why that was the case, it is because of an injury he has been carrying.

Even going back a couple of weeks, there were reports that Emenalo was dealing with an injury picked up in Chelsea training.

Celtic allowed him some time to recover from it before making the move to Glasgow. But that has not proven to be quite enough. It looks like the left-back will need a few more weeks.

As Martin O'Neill said about the current status of Emenalo: "He's picked up a little injury at this moment, he should be fit in a couple of weeks' time."

Emenalo needs to be given time to recover

Of course, there would be no point trying to rush Emenalo back to fitness. He is only the cover option for Kieren Tierney, who unfortunately is dealing with fitness issues of his own at the moment.

Liam Scales is filling in at left-back as a result of it. But the fans will be hoping that both of the club's left-backs return to full fitness quickly.

Obviously, it was great to see Emenalo's Chelsea teammate, Mheuka, make his debut already in the game against Aberdeen today.

These youngsters might only be on loan but they do have the talent to make their presence felt at Parkhead. Let us not mistake of viewing the likes of Mheuke and Emenalo as players who have been brought in just to make up the numbers.

They are genuine standouts in youth football who could go on to have prominent roles at Chelsea in the future.
