Danny Rohl is not happy with a decision Celtic have taken before the Glasgow Derby.
With Celtic winning against Falkirk, the pressure was on their title rivals to win this weekend. And they were certainly feeling it. Danny Rohl's Rangers lost at Ibrox to Motherwell. On the other hand, Hearts needed an own goal and a late winner to get past Hibernian, who had gone down to nine men after being shown a couple of red cards.
That should give Celtic some much-needed confidence that they have what it takes to get over the finish line in this title race. Some of their players, like Daizen Maeda, appear to be rediscovering their form.
And while there are serious question marks over the performances, Martin O'Neill has been able to squeeze out results despite working with an underpar squad, further weakened by injury problems.
One of the vital games remaining this season is when they will welcome the Rangers to Parkhead for the Glasgow Derby. That result is bound to have huge implications for this title race.
Also, it looks like Celtic do not want the Union Bears in attendance for that game. The club made an official announcement regarding this.
Since then, the Rangers have done the same. Their statement read: "YESTERDAY, Celtic FC informed us that they will not provide any tickets for the forthcoming game to our supporters unless we agree not to allocate tickets to members of the Union Bears. We have firmly rejected those conditions and have referred the matter to the SPFL Board."
It remains to be seen what steps are taken next in this regard but Rohl does not seem happy with the Celtic all. He said (via The Herald): "I hope that we find a solution, because my players deserve this, and not just the players.
"I think such a game with a good crowd is always what we want, and I still believe that we can also do it."
Of course, if there are no Rangers fans in attendance then it would be an advantage for Celtic, especially in that vital of a game, with the title race still up in the air.
That being said, one would hope that it does not come to that and that the Rangers are allotted their fair share of the tickets, but only after the situation is clarified and both teams are content.
We do not need to remind you about the scenes that unfolded at Ibrox the last time around when Celtic were able to win a penalty shootout against Rohl's side to advance in the Scottish Cup. Nobody wants to witness a repeat of that.
At the end of the day, the focus needs to remain on the pitch. Celtic have had a tough time against the Rangers over the last couple of seasons and have not won a game against them in 90 minutes since September of 2024, which was ten derbies ago.
Since then, they have gotten the better of the Rangers three times, twice on penalties and once in extra-time. On the other hand, the Ibrox club have won on three occasions as well, but all of them have come in the league.
It remains to be seen if that streak will come to an end when Celtic welcome the Rangers to Parkhead next. A draw will help Hearts, who extended their lead at the top this weekend.
