It is pretty clear that Celtic made another mistake as Fabrizio Romano dropped some transfer news.

Celtic's recruitment has come under heavy criticism in recent times and for good reason. But something that often does not get enough attention is how they have often not gotten enough out of the players that they have available.

In recent times, there have been plenty of examples of players who have left Celtic and impressed elsewhere. Tomoki Iwata has been a revelation at Birmingham City. Oh Hyeon-gyu was on the verge of a €20 million move not too long ago. Rocco Vata took to the English Championship like a duck to water after not getting chances at Parkhead. Now, it looks like the time has come to add another name to that list.

Benjamin Nygren earned a lot of plaudits for his performance against Poland as Sweden secured World Cup qualification. He provided an assist on the night. The one scoring from it is familiar to Celtic fans as well.

It was none other than Gustaf Lagerbielke. The Swedish defender who did not enough playing time at Celtic and was sent out on loan to FC Twente before being eventually transferred to Braga for around £2 million.

Well, it is safe to say that Lagerbielke's reputation has been enhanced significantly since that £2 million move to Braga. He has impressed with his displays in Portugal. And now, with his heroics for Sweden, he looks to have put himself on the verge of a big move.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Paris FC tried to sign Lagerbielke in January. More bids are expected this summer from the top five leagues after his performances with Braga and Sweden.

Considering Celtic's defensive issues at the moment, it is hard not to feel that they might have gotten it wrong with Lagerbielke as well. He has proven his quality elsewhere and now looks set for a move to a big five European league.

It is about time that this is another issue that Celtic try to address. The problem might not always be with their recruitment. A lot of the time, the players who are brought in fail to get enough chances or time to settle down.

Just look at Yang Hyun-jun. It has taken him three seasons but he is now performing like a Celtic-level winger. What if the club had allowed him to join Birmingham City last summer, a move he was on the verge of making.

Anyways, it is good to see that Lagerbielke is doing well after leaving Celtic and we can only wish him well. As for the club, they need to be a lot more careful with how they handle players. It does feel like a decent bit of talent is slipping through their fingers at the moment.
