There is one final update for Celtic fans on deadline day, as the transfer window for Scottish clubs is set to close.

The summer transfer window is on the verge of closing. But many Celtic fans might still be hoping for one last move from the Hoops.

After all, they saw the pursuit to sign Gvidas Gineitis collapse yesterday. That would suggest that the club were still after an addition in the middle of the park.

That has not come yet. Arne Engels and Reo Hatate, two key midfielders, have left this summer. In return, Celtic have made a few additions of their own.

They have brought in three midfielders. Mika Baur and Joel van den Berg have been signed on a permanent basis. On the other hand, Oliver Sorensen has arrived on loan from Parma for the season.

Could there be one more midfield addition before the window closes? One last-minute addition? Well, we know the answer to that.

Final Celtic transfer update before transfer window closes

Scottish clubs have until 5 pm today to complete signings. But it does not look like Celtic have plans to do so.

As reported by CeltsAreHere, Mark Hendry says that barring any dramatic late twists, Celtic are finished for the summer. It is also stated that the club have been offered several defensive midfield options but have rejected these players.

So, it looks like Celtic have closed shop for the summer and are content with the options they have got for the time being.

That is interesting as many might feel that they have not made enough quality additions in the middle of the park.

Of course, Baur, Sorensen and Van den Berg will have the chance to prove the doubters wrong over the course of the campaign.

Did Celtic do enough this summer?

To be very honest, this was an average window for Celtic. Some quality additions have been made, nobody can deny that.

Camilo Duran looks like one of the best signings that Celtic have made in years. He has been absolutely class and one has to wonder if the second leg against LASK would have turned out differently if he was the one leading the line instead of Kasper Hogh.

Haissem Hassan also looked very good in his outing against Aberdeen. He has not gotten a ton of chances because Martin O'Neill has tried to fit Hogh and Duran into the same starting XI. It might be time to drop that idea and give the Egyptian winger a proper run.

As for the late additions, we have not seen much, if any, of them so far. Those judgments can be made over the coming weeks and months.
