Celtic might have won against St Mirren but that was not enough to convince the fans about their league title chances.
At the business end of the season, nothing matters more than results. And Celtic will be relieved to secure all three points at home against St Mirren this weekend. A goal from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the first-half was enough to get past next weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final opponents.
The performance has left a lot of supporters unconvinced about the team's title chances though. They will still need to get past Hearts and the Rangers.
Now, we are not saying that either of those two teams have been brilliant in recent times. But on their day, they seem capable of pulling out a convincing win and showcasing a gap between themselves and their opponent. When was the last time Celtic did that?
Three teams have a better goal difference than Celtic in the Premiership right now. And that won't be changing anytime soon if the best they can manage is to squeeze out wins by a one-goal margin.
As one Celtic fan wrote at full-time: "Good win in the end. But my god the football is bad."
Another said: "Will take it but need to up our game considerably if we want to win the league, so far I'm no convinced we will."
A third went on to add: "Dreadful football. Can't wait for this season to be over."
That was pretty much the feeling all around the board. Not too many fans seemed to be convinced by the performance that the Hoops put out at the weekend.
And this was not a one-off either. Martin O'Neill did get some great performances out of this side during his first interim spell. That has not been the case since he replaced Wilfried Nancy.
Most of Celtic's wins have been hard-fought ones and there does not seem to be much of a gap between them and any other team in Scotland right now. That just goes to show how significantly they have been weakened since Ange Postecoglou's treble-winning campaign, when they were untouchable.
Even for a good portion of last season, Celtic looked pretty good. But the drop-off over the past year-and-a-half or so has been concerning to say the least.
This squad needs a major overhaul in the summer. A quality manager needs to be brought in as well.
Until then, O'Neill needs to find a way to keep squeezing out wins if he cannot get good performances out of this team. At best, there are seven games left this season. The fans will take seven wins by a one-goal margin, that is for sure.
