Anthony Joseph has dropped some fantastic news for Celtic as a medical has been booked and the move is set to go through.

It is finally over the line. Celtic have seemingly ended their long wait to add a fresh face to Martin O'Neill's squad in this summer transfer window.

For the last few weeks, the fans had been left frustrated as they saw their rivals strengthen while the Celtic management seemed stuck in one spot. But now, there is some good news for those waiting patiently for a move to go through.

It is only a matter of time before Celtic complete their first signing of the window. The medical has been booked and everything seems to be in place on both player and club side.

According to Anthony Joseph, Celtic are closing in on the signing of Qarabag forward Camilo Duran.

It’s understood that Celtic will pay an initial fee of £3 million, with just over £2 million in add-ons. The Colombian striker is due to arrive in the UK this week to undergo a medical and finalise the paperwork on his contract.

That figure is certainly higher than the £3 million fee that had been suggested in the media. But it is positive to see that the Hoops have found an agreement.

It is important to have Duran in place and settled before key matches early in the season, mainly the Champions League qualifiers.

Will signing Camilo Duran be enough?

The Colombian striker enjoyed a standout campaign in the Champions League last season, scoring five goals, with them coming against teams like Ajax, Benfica, Newcastle United and a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Just signing Duran might not be enough for Celtic though, especially if it turns out that they are going to see Daizen Maeda leave this summer.

Maeda was the talisman for the club last season, finding Henrik Larsson-esque form to finish the campaign and guide Celtic to an unexpected double against all odds.

After four-and-a-half years at the club, it looks like the Japanese striker could look to leave for a new challenge. He seemed to hint in that direction recently.

On the other hand, Celtic have made a confusing decision by not finding a new agreement with Kelechi Iheanacho despite his tremendous end to the season.

So, signing Duran might be a step in the right direction but the Hoops might end up needing a lot more.
